Absolute scum company.

Ruined a close family members life (proven in court) were told to pay a large amount of compo because of gross negligence which ended his career at the age of 20 (brain damage) and now it looks like they won't pay a penny of that.

Hope their board all get aids/cancer asap. Their lives will be fine on their 30mil bonus this year! [Link]

This is the same bunch of c***s liable for the death of children too

^ and I'm leaving out all the worst bits, like trying to take his fingerprint whilst in a coma to sign them off as faultless, and trying to strongarm other members of my family with intimidation to settle + 5 years of harrassment.

f***ing. w***ers. Worst of the worst.

Yes there is something distinctly unimaginative about the concept. And it's a sure fire way to visit a country without actually experiencing it at all.

It must be 30 years ago that I watched a TV documentary following the exploits of the people on a flight to Benidorm. Almost all of the passengers never left the confines of the hotel in the fortnight that they were there

I'm a pensioner and I've never been on a 'package holiday' and I never will. I can't stand the unimaginative concept of spending my holiday surrounded by a mass of unimaginative people ie the British abroad.

I didn't know that you were a member of the old gits club too

Likewise I'm also not a lover of the packaged holiday despite it being much cheaper. We book flights and villa separately despite knowing that we have less protection in the event of either insolvency or fraud.

Apparently they got the 200 millions together near the end but some kind of government guarantee was required.

Wondering how much this is all actually costing, could it be more than the 200 millions?

The government is also mobilizing its largest ever peacetime repatriation plan, code-named Operation Matterhorn, which will involve planes chartered from other airlines including British Airways and easyJet and is expected to set taxpayers back at least £600 million.

Your next line is " they did it for the banks"
This business will fail continually.
Only 6 years or so ago they had a 200 million injection of dough.
Now look at them.
It would be a never ending giveaway.
The banks had to be financed and it may even turn into a good investment.
You me and uncle tom cobbly would have been affected.

I am quite happy with the High Street for holidays myself.

It is over 150 years old, a couple of months to make a rescue package and return to profitability should not be beyond the financial people.

I would be happy my taxes were used to that effect, rather than spend 88 billions on a railway line that may never operate.

What about all the distress, all the people losing their jobs?

Indeed all the media attention is about holidaymakers etc etc but there are staff who have mortgages and bills to pay and I really feel for all of them.Holidaymakers will return home and will get compensated, the TC staff will be unemployed and face an uncertain future.
