Truth bomb.

Oh my goodness...I said the word 'bomb'....am I allowed to still say that word? Will some victimhood fetishist pop up to say how 'terrified' they are once they heard the word.

In your case I'd be more concerned over your use of the word truth

eat BEFORE you go into Selhurst.

But NOT too spicy as it is advisable not to have to resort to a bowel movement in the toilets in the Arthur Wait stand.

I will be in Suffolk over Xmas and driving from Bury St Edmunds to the game.

Any suggestions on parking and where to have a drink/lunch for away fans would be welcome

Hi everyone,

A Canary here, I’m coming to the game this weekend.

What’s the deal with parking in the surrounding area? I drove and parked near-ish to the ground when I last came (around 2011 though)!

Happy to walk 20 mins or so to the ground and will be arriving around 12:30 / 1 ish.

Any where you’d recommend?

I’ll be coming up from the M25 south, and going back that way too.

As for the match, I’m not feeling confident given our defeats at West Ham and Burnley, plus our injury ravaged squad. I think Zaha will get plenty of joy on the break. Statement of the obvious, first goal is key from our perspective

County hall is the official parking - it’s £6 I think. Great big car park as you come into Norwich from the A47. Loads of spaces but can be a bit slow getting away.

I think given it’s New Year’s Day though, there shouldn’t be parking restrictions in place in Lakenham, I head for Cricket Ground Road area and park there.

That’s not so good for away pubs though, which tend to be down near the station / riverside area. Fat Cat and Canary and Coach and Horses both good - check they let away fans in though (these things change periodically), or if you want a Wetherspoons type place, down at the riverside. But only a 10 / 15 minute walk into the City centre if you want to go that way for food.

There’s a match day car park on lower Clarence road too, good location for pubs if you’re there early enough to get a space. It’s not a massive car park and being so close to the ground, the traffic is heavy on arrival and departure.

There are also a lot of pubs in the city centre. The Lamb Inn is good for beer and food. That would probably be the option I would go for for beer and food, then head down towards riverside to where a lot of other away fans will be for one more before kick off. Given it’s a bank holiday, parking shouldn’t be a problem in the town centre either.

You can’t really go too far wrong to be honest. There are a lot of good pubs in Norwich.

I recall visting 'Carrow Road', I believe back in 2007,was resident in the Holiday Inn and watched the game from the Jarrold End.

In terms of pubs, I believe I visited the Compleat Angler, and the Adam & Eve - forgotten the names of the other ones but I recall they were all delightful establishments ! Stopped off at a village on the way back - think it was called Hingham but I could be wrong. Some while ago and I am in 67 in November !

I wish you a safe trip tomorrow.

Thanks Willo! Looking forward to it, although just checked my ticket and I’m in row 40, so I probably won’t see much of the game!

The Compleat Angler became home fans only a couple of years ago. Still plenty of away fan friendly pubs though

I am informed that that darned gantry which runs the length of the decrepit Arthur Wait stand procludes one from seeing some areas of the stadium. Not the best of views.

When I was resident in the Holiday Inn, adjacent to Carrow Road, I had a room which partially overlooked the pitch - probably had a better view than you will get tomorrow !!!!

Mods, I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but, please feel free to do so.

Just a heads up to anyone traveling(car etc) from M25/M23 junc along the A23 through Purley/Croydon/Fort Neef, the MVM(Million Vets March) will be doing a 'Rolling Thunder' leaving Clacket Lane Services at approx. 10.00. They will be stopping in Purley for RnR & to allow other bikers to join up with them.

This will impact on peeps travelling to SP early for Parking/meet ups & pubs. The estimate of numbers is approx. 5000 bikes & they wont be travelling at speed. Their RV is Hyde Park Corner & then onto Parliament with those that are camping at HPC. I have no idea what time they finish, so, you might meet them on way home.

Hope this helps at least some people.
