“When you see 52,000 in Selhurst, you know what this club is capable of, and what we could set fire to. That’s what I am trying to bring back, and I think we have had moments, we really have, and hopefully we are still on that path," he said, speaking at a premiere of BT Sport's film about Crystal Palace, Team of the Eighties ."

Worried by this Steve Parish quote from football.london.

Hope he's not planning to "blaze" the way to a new era.

Maybe he's planning the Spurs route to getting the ground redeveloped?

Maybe instead of taking a small part of what he was saying like the media would...you may actually judge the context of everything he said.

Which to put it bluntly, is that expectations are grounded and he isn't over expectant of the team judging from our table position at present.

The real news was more towards what will be happening with the academy and some progress with the stadium rather than setting the world alight...

we used to get 40,000+ crowds quite regularly - the collapse in form after our breakthrough year, exodus to qpr bloye etc, plus the knocking down of the old Whitehorse lane end for sainsbury's all in 1980 led to a fall in capacity and crowds - even during the Coppell years attendances were relatively poor compared to the not too distant past, we've got a good core support again now, but South London is not served with big clubs like north London and if we do it right the catchment area is there to get big crowds again - I've always felt Parrish had the right vision, some of it he uses for PR purposes, sure, but hopefully he'll be able to convince some new investors that we could get regular 35000 instead of 25000 crowds - its quite possible. And this year looks to be another 2016 except that all of the top six dipped that year, now its only four of them, sixth place does flatter us but the right buys in Jan and we can knock on the European door this season - top 4 is Liv, city, Leicester and Chelsea - man u and arsenal are nowt, spurs could implode, wolves will revive, but we contend with bournemouth and west ham after that - sixth or seventh is up for grabs imho.

From this article: [Link]

Basically saying the team's gonna have to take a hit whilst we invest off the pitch. Disappointing but pretty much inevitable, what with the Yanks selling up and all

I know it ain't a popular opinion but to be honest I'd rather use the money on new facilities that'll be here for years to come than a bunch of players that'll only be gone in a few seasons anyways. And the board have proven they can bring in enough on a budget even if it's not as much as we'd like, and Roy's proven he can get the most out of a limited squad.

I just hope he's got it in him to keep going for a couple more years. We're really gonna need him at this rate.

I agree with those who say sorting the ownership situation is our first priority. All our investment goals, players or infrastructure, will be awkward until that happens.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

100% agree. Until we can get someone to replace the Yanks who can provide extra funds we ain't gonna be able to see the on-the-pitch investment a lot of us would like
