Depends what happens in the transfer window and if we do sign some decent players whether Hodgson can be bothered to actually play them. As someone else has pointed out if it wasn’t for VAR we would have a lot less points so I wouldn’t get carried away just yet. If we were to get a few injuries especially Ward or Van Aanholt things could go downhill very quickly.

Can I dream that by then we'll have put all the money we need into the club's infrastructure to leave a legacy?

We've witnessed years of neglect, watched it all run down. To repair this damage will take years of investment.

Uninspired? Unimaginative? Boring football?

If that's what needs to be done to achieve my dream then so be it.

You mis-understand, we have had 50/50 calls go in our favour at least 3 times this year if not more. It’s not just chalking off the mistakes they make it’s the decisions that are borderline but go in our favour. Remember Villa and the dubious simulation?

We have indeed had 50/50 calls going our way, although nothing particularly to do with VAR (until the Arse, non 3rd goal.

I don't think it should have but Villa could have gone against us but there were other instances in the game that went against us that could and should have put the game to bed way before that incident.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Well, I think it is 'cheery' compared to some of the 'Roy is boring' posts we get on here. The scenario I've described would definitely provide a cheery outcome, as far as I'm concerned.

Something to show for our years in the top flight and a legacy to hand on in the future.

If that isn't cheery, I don't know what is.

Dreamland.

100% agree with poster. We need to secure the future of the club and not throw away all of the current windfall on wages and fees.

I think there is more chance of us being relegated this year than qualifying for Europe. There are not three teams worse than us, we are just one of a dozen or so clubs that are reasonably equal that could finish 18th or 19th. Probably only Norwich, and that is debateable, look weaker than us.

I'm pretty well prepared for all eventualities. What I will say is that considering the gloom and pessimism that was predominant on this site pre-season ( and I wasn't immune to such sentiments)things have so far gone beyond most people's (low) expectations.

To date we have been fortunate with incurring few injuries, and VAR going our way, but that might not be sustained over the season. However, I agree that couple of shrewd winter signings should see us safe for another season.

Just think, there are now lots of young football enthusiasts who have never known Palace to be in any other league than the Premier!

im not dreaming of europe yet...i said i would be happy with 6 points from this stretch of difficult games and we currently got 4 with 3 remaining.

if we reach janaury within touching distance of top 6 i will be happy as thats progress on recent years.

VAR has helped us (in my eyes) win 5 additional points, which have been massive so far this season, if only from the mindset of looking up rather than down thus far.

Not for me.
The point about small margins and the benefit of Grealish's "goal", Arsenal's "winner", Rashford's penalty and Guaita's performance at home to Wolves when we could have been 3-0 down at half time.
We've played well in games to the point of being above the sum of parts and ridden our luck.
