When O'Neil asked Corbyn about national security Corbyn wanted to talk about the importance of climate change.

Says it all.

I think you are grasping at straws. If there had been significant reserves Brown and co would have spent them.

And just like what he did was criminal and irresponsible, so would be wiping out any reserves now.

The link I put up suggests there are reserves,

'The UK government’s gross reserves increased by $4 billion to $181 billion at the end of
January 2019' .

These are 2019 figures. The thrust of Neils point was that there were none to partly fund Labours manifesto. He was wrong. That is really the only thing I was pointing out.

I thought I had misheard that.

He got totally demolished exactly as I expected.
The only positive for Corbyn was that they ran out of time.

Exposed as what he is....a far left 'student union level' protest leader. Not a serious level politician who should be considered for national leadership.

I'll give the Labour party credit for having a leader who reflects their grass roots activists.....but he isn't running against May here.....He's running against a popular politician.

Brexit is coming.

?

The total UK debt has been estimated at somewhere between 2.2 trillion and 4.8 trillion.....and you're talking about international currency holdings....jeepers.

[Link]

The UK has been running at a deficient for donkey's years and borrowing to keep afloat.

And once again, even if we were in the red....which we clearly aren't... the clue's in the name, 'reserves', not main expenditure.

Part of the 2008 crises was that Labour had spent everything and we had nothing to combat the impact. Many many people lost their jobs because of that.

Did you read the link (from a Government site) which very clearly stated 'The UK government’s gross reserves increased by billion to 1 billion at the end of January 2019' .

Once again you will have to debate with yourself as I'm all debated out.

Some free advice here. Anyone still thinking of voting for Corbyn after that train wreck of an Interview, I suggest you see a doctor in the morning.

Whilst I don’t disagree with your post, the exact same could be levelled at Boris. If these are our best two, we’re royally f***ed.

But we are still in debt and the main thrust of the interview was tax, tax, tax, borrowing, borrowing, borrowing. I’d be confident if I knew it was for a limited time, which it would be but unfortunately because it would no doubt get out of control.

1. Every pound ever printed comes with debt (interest) so the debt can only ever grow, never ever reduce.
2. To pay for the debt that can never ever reduce.
3. It never will.

The ever devaluing 'fiat' currency forced upon us all is the one constant regardless of political colours at the helm.

The elephant in the room.

£1.8 trillion, even at very low interest rates, has to be serviced. And they won't be low forever.

As with the EU, they may well go lower.

Not really....I don't have the same concerns about Boris.

I'll say that I'm not a fan of neo liberal conservatism that's true but Boris.....for example, isn't going to be spending around 130 billion (when you include these pension payments) rather than 2.9 billion and destroying the economy.....Or getting the education system to teach my sons that the British empire was something to be ashamed of.

So for me, it isn't really comparable.
