The only one that causes me not to sneer as being more of the same is Lisa Nandy. Ticks a lot of boxes. Represents a Northern seat and was vocal in her disagreement with the disastrous second referendum policy. And not a Corbyinite in any way, shape or form.

If we accept that Labours horrendous showing was a combination of both Corbyn and the second referendum policy then she is the only one as far as I can see that is able to stand up and claim she has clean hands concerning both.

And has a long time to grow into the role.

The rest are all to tainted with this disaster.

And she ticks another box for me - would. Definitely would. Oh yes.

Probably the one thing against her in terms of the leadership. People might consider her somewhat lacking in gravitas.

But for my money the next leader of the Labour Party has to give up on actually leading the opposition because it is pointless given the majority the Tories. Instead, they have to rebuild Labour in the North.

In less than 5 years time (May 2024 I suspect) they will have to fight another election and if they stand a chance (and it only takes 4% swing) to take away the Tory majority, they need those northern seats back in the fold. I simply cannot see any of the others possessing that given how tainted they are with this current defeat.

To easy to bring that up, time and time again. Where as Nandy can brush it all off because she was vocal in opposing much of it.

More I think about it, she is the only real choice. She wont get it because there is a stitch up going on but that just goes to show how f***ed Labour are.

I see this morning that Rayner has decided to run only for deputy, leaving the path clear for Long Bailey. From what I have seen and heard from her so far, she is going to piss the electorate off more than Corbyn did, but you just know that with Momentum driving the process they can be relied on to pick the wrong candidate again.

Angela Rayner interrupts people and conservatives speaking and debating on issues most of the traditional labour but now conservative voters agree on. She spits ‘disgusting’ at them and caused this result. If someone is disgusting then they deserve it, but people with concerns and controls on immigration haven’t ruined your life, sh@gged their wife’s sister, best friend or secretary. They’ve represented people’s views, that’s all. She doesn’t. Her it is then. They’re popping up all over the tv all week. MPs, activists, anyone stubborn, bitter and delusional.

I think that Boris would crucify her at PMQs

She looks like she lacks that ability to go toe to toe. Looks and sounds fragile. Maybe as leader it’ll give her that extra bit of belief and confidence but I don’t see it currently. All of the previous prime ministers have shown plenty of confidence in opposition or in waiting. You don’t get that feeling with her. I also feel they should have someone who appeals to the mother vote like Blair did. I think Caroline flint would appeal to a lot of mothers.

Lisa Nandy looks like she’s been upset at school because someone’s called her a nasty name. The hissing only goes so far. People and middle England need a brighter and more hopeful delivery than just criticism, doom and gloom. There’s ways of addressing that if that’s the issue, without the lugubrious delivery.

Pretty much.....it's a remainer party with a leaver two heading it.

Dawn Butler, Emily Thornberry and Jess Phillips have all refused to rule out standing.

It's comedy central.

Where's Gloria De Piero when she's needed...i'd vote labour if she was their leader!

Labour seem to believe that their huge election defeat was because the general public didn't understand their message.

However their huge election defeat occurred because the general public absolutely understood their message and voted accordingly.

Their new leader should be someone that grasps that simple fact.

It doesn't appear that any of the current candidates do.

Anyone leading the party for the foreseeable future will be an instant lame duck put out there as a sacrificial lamb for Labour period in the wilderness with no Moses in sight to rescue them.

I got a couple of animals in there and a cheeky Jewish Biblical reference.

Richard Burgon on Politics Live today was hilarious. He just couldn't see that Corbyn was the problem and even stated JC should have sued The Sun for the lies they posted about him. When asked by the bloke from The Sun if JC had invited Gerry Adams to Parliament 4 days after the Brighton bombing, he refused to answer.
Total k***
