It's good to know that in the USA someone is also prepared to put the national interest before their own, just as those MPs did in the last Parliament here, even to the point of spending a large amount of his personal fortune in doing so. Whether you agree with him or not that is worthy of admiration. Another interpretation is that a 77 year old who’s the 14th richest man in the world feels he’s untouchable.

It's known that Bloomberg is very altruistic. No-one though is untouchable when you enter US politics, especially when you take on people like Trump and his support base.

It's the those who fought for remaining in the EU in the face of insults and character assassination in the popular press and on social media that I admire. Sticking by their convictions and not changing their minds. Stubborn refusal to acknowledge the truth that all politicians actually know more like.
If that was their motive they would have found ways to reverse their position, knowing all they have discovered in the past 3 and more years. You speak like a true brexiteer,well done. How can that possibly be true? I am not, have never been and never will be, in favour of our country leaving the best thing to have happened to us since WW2, which will also probably see the end of the UK as we know it.

I can assure you from direct current personal experience that is completely untrue. At 75 I am full of energy and determination. Whilst the precise length of my future is unclear it still matters a lot but the future of my loved ones matters even more. I think Mr Bloomberg, like me, feels the need to be active and affect things while he can. My own opinion is that people of our age are much more responsible in our comments than younger people as we have a wider experience to call upon and less need for confirmation from others. Dementia sufferers excluded of course.
