Totally agree. I don’t buy into the “he is not strong enough” ffs he has been playing in the Bundesliga. Wilf looks so much better when Meyer is playing on the left behind him.

We have the worst midfield in the league, bar none. It's probably worse than most championship teams.

I swear that none of our midfielders are capable of passing the ball more than 5 yards to a wide open player. JMac is our best passing midfielder by default, and he's a terrible passer.

Legend has it that Luka and Kouyate once completed a forward pass to a fellow Palace player, but there is no video evidence to support this claim.

We start every match with 8-9 defense only players, then wonder why we can't score a goal.

2017 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Middlesboro
2018 Jan. (Sako) Palace 1 - 0 Burnley
2019 May (Batshuayi, Batshuayi, OG, Van Aanholt, Townsend) Palace 5 - 3 Bournemouth
2020 Feb. (Van Aanholt) Palace 1 - 0 Newcastle

I agree with this. I can accept a lot of faults with our team but it boils my blood every week to watch our shocking passing ability. It is criminal they way we just surrender possession week in and out. Our set pieces are also awful.

If a professional football player can not pass the ball 10 yards then we can’t really blame Roy for this. It is schoolboy stuff.

I take it none of you went to West Ham where at times we zipped the ball around like Barcelona. The problem appears to be doing it on a consistent basis.I would add It is not just the passing it is our movement off the ball that needs to improve as well.

I thought the thread was in the wrong place.
It reads like a Dead thread on a panda in Bejing zoo.

I find it hard to believe that a group of players who also play at international level cannot pass the ball.

Jimmy Mac is indeed the only current midfielder who can pass the ball a little....but even that seems like a lot of fuss and effort....
If I asked him to make me an egg sandwich, the kitchen would look like a bomb's hit it!

(The other lot wouldn't even know where the kitchen is)

If we were to try Meyer, McCarthy and Camarasa as our 'creative midfield' I don't doubt we would start scoring again. Even two of these three would give Ayew and Zaha
more opportunities.

I am also certain we would concede more.

We must ask ourselves:
Lose to Liverpool 0-3 with our present line-up or go down
2-5 with some creativity ?

I know the latter would be a much more attractive game to watch.

At the moment it is painful and embarrassing ....

I couldn’t agree with this thread less.

The lack of young players / legs, intensity and ability to beat a man and lack of balance in the squad is our biggest problem.

Don't you mean 'more'?

No I mean less. I don’t agree with the thrust of the thread. We’ve got plenty of players who are able to pass but not enough who have pace or can travel with the ball and open up the game. We also lack players who can shoot from range (or anywhere for that matter).

As for Meyer, he has been abysmal overall and has looked anything but a creative force. Fine playing three yard passes backwards or sideways.
