One of the best clubs for recruitment are Brentford. Get their recruitment team in, whatever the cost, I say

In this league players value suddenly trebles and finding someone to boot a ball in the Championship is a different matter all together compared to this league and besides, any player who does come to us and performs too well will not be with us for very long, we need to rebuild our stadium as first priority the team on the pitch is very capable of avoiding relegation.

Freedman walked away during his best moment for money, now he is going because of his heart, hopefully that will be the end of him.

Dougie is a Palace legend. Hope he stays.

Yes he was, as a player only.

..but, if an offer for more money from another club came along he would have vanished over night, just like all the other players around the world, we are the only loyal ones lol.

Dougie Freedman was an all-time great Palace player.
As manager; did a good job but left.
As director of football; little is known about his role but seems to have brought in a number of good players on the tightest of budgets.

This apparently equals hate figure and pantomime villain.

as a manager for us he was awesome - remember Bolasie, Murray, Delaney and Moritz for a combined total of 300k - and they were prem class - but he's lost it, Hearts looks like a good opportunity for him to find it again

yes your right, but my point was that he was a legend as a player only, not as a manager

As a manager he put together an excellent team that had Palace flying up the Championship table into an automatic promotion place.

When he left, Ian Holloway said that the team was so good that it didn't need a manager as it managed itself and despite buying a bucket load of new players when we reached the Premiership Freedman's team still formed the backbone of the Premiership side.

Respect where it's due as we may well not have reached the Premiership without Freedman's astute purchases

A fair point, which begs the question what in the blue hell is going on now, in this respect, and who's really responsible for some of the lacklustre recruitment in recent windows? It's possible, of course, that Freedman's recruitment experience didn't translate well from the Championship to the Premier League?

He departed in 2012-13 with us in 4th place after 11 league games. The previous season we finished in 17th place.

Yet many of the players that he bought in the Championship did translate well to the Premiership.

The reason why we buy and loan rubbish is one of life's great unknowns and no-one is going to hold their hands up and admit that it was them although when Roy retires and writes his memoires we might find out more
