Initially it looks bad but I've just watched the replay of the Sakho incident and I'm not sure it was a sending off offence. Sakho simply gets to the ball first in a 50-50 situation. Smith arrives just a fraction of a second late and collides with Mama's leg.

Roy summed it up perfectly.

Essentially it is very soft by most peoples standards but apparently according to the current rules it technically qualifies as a red and we are very unfortunate.

Watched it live but didn't have great view and seen numerous replays since.

Not a red by any stretch for me, it's not even a tackle, it's a clearance which he makes and follow through grazes the knee of the opposition. Games rules have gone to pot.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Amazing Performance from our boys, left everything out there. played some lovely one touch intricate passing at to get up the pitch, Kouyate always seemed to be in their way....but Man! Bournemouth were shocking, worst I've seen them play. nothing up front, no confidence in front of goal.
I don't think the Red made a jot of difference to the game. We dominated them throughout, but except for the odd pieces of individual brilliance from Ayew/Zaha/Schlupp never looked like being through On goal. All our chances even before the sending off was inside a crowded penalty area with B'Mouth defending very deep.
bit nervous at the end when we were trying to close out The game. We wasted possession a few times deep in their own half and gave them another opportunity to attack,

We had more than a few glimpses, macca had a nice shot saved well, one or 2 Townsend crosses looked very dangerous and on another day wed have scored from 2 of Lukas wicked corners. As for wasting possession deep in their half, it happens to every team, otherwise there's only ever be 1 team attacking all game.

I think the sending off motivated our players more than it did them. I just had this feeling that before that Palace were heading for a draw or a 1-0 defeat.

Anyway that is pure speculation what matters is that Roy and the boys responded.

Just one last observation it's funny how Palace never play well its the opposition e.g. Burnley and Bournemouth who played badly, or did they? I think Roy would dispute that and point out it was our team performance and work rate that denied them goal scoring opportunities.

COYP 30 points or better by New years day please.

Taylor has obviously been having refereeing lessons from Clattenberg
Rule 1....its only Palace so they should lose
Rule 2....Palace player tackles therefore its a foul
Rule 3....Card as many as you can while allowing the opposition to kick 7 shades of s*** out of Palace players

Consider yourself corrected - Kelly's very much a centre back who can do a job at right back. That's from his mouth.

He might well see himself that way now (and probably quite rightly) but he was a right back at Liverpool, and we bought him to play right back. His Wikipedia page backs up my memory on this, with talk of Glen Johnson being moved over to left back to make way for the young Kelly to rampage forward. When he signed for us Ward moved over to the left for the same reason, before we signed PVA and Schlupp.

Kelly ended up fitting in a centre back when everyone was injured, and did so well that it became another string to his bow. His flexibility probably resulted in his getting a new contract last time around.

Absolutely none of this matters at all. I just wanted to be sure my memory wasn't knackered, and having done the necessary research, I thought I'd share it with you.

Point remains that we've got 8 blokes for four positions at the back, including those who, like Kelly and Schlupp, can play in more than one position. Thats plenty, we are not Man City. Spend any dosh we might have on a forward I say.

yep point taken. Macca's was a speculative (albeit excellent) effort, and there was a couple of good crosses come in..

but as for the wasting possession, I was talking about in the 90th+ min when instead of playing keep ball by the corner flag, we did it half heartedly (and were always looking for goal opportunity), but ended up losing the ball.

It's a borderline red and if it were a foul on one of our players I'd probably say fair dues. Other than that, Taylor was broadly ok.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Taylor is one of our best referees and I thought he had a good game, even handed and fairly protective of Zaha.
So far this season (touch wood) we have generally had decent refs and this 'persecution complex' is silly.

For What it's worth,
I thought that it was both a Red (by current recklessness rules)
and it was not a penalty (Zaha was knocked off The ball to easily).

I'll never come to terms with the notion that if a player is tripped or pushed, the determining factor as to whether it's a foul is whether he "goes down too easily". If a player trips or pushes an opponent, he does it with the aim of impeding his progress - which is illegal and should therefore be penalised, whatever happens to the fouled player (unless advantage is being played).

you have got to be joking...if hes one of the best, the others must be totally s***e..we had 6 fouls 3 bookings (maybe 4) Bournemouth 16 fouls 1 booking and you think he was fair???
