Looking for some clarification from people on the left about this #expellme hoo-har on twitter at the moment.

From what I can make out Ms's Long-Bailey and Nandy have both signed up to some Trans pledge that promotes the idea of Gender Self-identification which I struggle to get my head around.

Does that mean if I wake up tomorrow and declare to the world that I am really a woman, then I can use all female only spaces and expect to be treated as a female in terms of a variety of services on offer?

When you that there is no obvious organized push back against this from the left.....you have to conclude that the left are now essentially loopy from top to bottom.

All their leadership contenders are just variations of Corbyn.

I think it means that people can decide what they are so if someone identifies as a horse you have to neigh at them

But is the baseline in terms of Gender seriously being reduced to just that?

I read and hear a lot of people spouting off on it but nobody seems to be able to define what it means in real world terms.

Because if it does simply boil down to what you are implying then Labour have actually gone insane although I note that Starmer appears to be sitting this one out.

There is a court case going on at the moment with a local council brought by a schoolgirl. The council has said for overnight stays on school trips Trans pupils are free to decide who they share with. The girl not surprisingly is unhappy that a boy can self identify and demand he share a room with a girl.

Sigh, you can't make this stuff up.

My uncle has started saying he identifies as an owl.

I'd like to believe him but I can't get my head around a word he hoots.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Where I struggle with it is that as an issue it is clear that a LOT of women really value their female-only spaces. Toilets, changing rooms and so on.

What on earth does Labour gain by pursuing a policy that clearly annoys a significant % of half the population?

Along with pissing a lot of men off as well because we are expected to stand to one side if we spot somebody who clearly appears to be a male entering a female only space where we have loved ones.

Yes, the notion of people wanting to change sex has been around for a long time and whilst I struggle to understand it, there appears to be a medical case to be made for the process to be undertaken. But that is a specific procedure with checks and balances and seen within context of requiring scrutiny.

We already have disabled toilets in many public spaces so why not extend the use of those to people undergoing gender realignment treatment?

But to simply allow anybody to voluntarily declare that their gender is different from the one on their birth certificates and be treated with all due deference on that basis is almost beyond comprehension. Yet this is now meant to be official Labour policy?

Exactly Labour learns nothing and continues to chase the votes of a minority of people as well as minorities in general.

I am amazed that such a small group of people (trans) seem to wield so much power I m not saying they should be victimised but women have rights as well.

Common sense solutions to this appear to be beyond the abilities of our politicians so they would rather p*ss off the vast majority of us than tell the trans people they have to compromise.

It is beyond bizarre how this issue has come to such prominence from seemingly nowhere to now actually causing potential Labour leadership hopefuls to be willing to piss off so many people.

The amount of people involved in this must be miniscule and yet seem to now hold the power of political life or death. The stance agreed by both RLB and Nandy seems to be putting the issue beyond any reasonable debate and enshrining the notion of self-identity as absolute orthadoxy with zero allowance for any differing opinions.

With prominent Labour supporters urging people who disagree to leave the party immediately. And not people like me but people who probably agree with them on almost every single other part of their political stance. Their own people and for what? Minute numbers of people, many of whom are clearly suffering from mental illness. How or why do they get to wield such incredible power?

And yet alienating anybody who disagrees in the slightest with the stance seems to be a no-brainer for them. Like a collective hysteria has taken hold of many on the Left. I genuinely detect a sense of almost fear from many who refuse to be drawn on the issue. They know it is madness but simply are so far down the rabbit hole they are beyond forming their own opinion anymore for fear of expulsion.

If these Ultra Progressive f***ers ever get a sniff of power people like us are done. I know we joke about 're-eductation camps' and so on but I reckon they would be a reality if these b******s get their way.
