Fallon Sherrock broke the record for the highest televised average by a female player in her 5-0 whitewash of Mike de Decker at the Grand Slam of Darts in Wolverhampton. - [Link] She just made it through to the last 16, with a 170 out. Has certainly livened up the Grand Slam.

I suppose the numbers of females playing is a much smaller pool but if you're good enough cool....good luck to her.

Yes, there's certainly some women that are an exception to the rule in terms of their standard, and if anything the prior focus on mens and womens competitions obscured that until recent years. It's good for showing others whats possible, and while it's unlikely that we'll ever see a woman winning tournament after tournament against the men, it's surprising how competitive things get at times and everyone loves an underdog story!

Modern darts doesn't really do it for me. I was spoilt by the 'Jocky Wilson' era. I don't want to see fit amazing darts players.....I think I preferred looking at fat ill incredibly drunk people throwing darts.....The fact that they looked like they could have a heart attack at any moment kind of added to the tension.

The last big example of those heady days was when Ted Hankey had a mini stroke live on stage a decade back. As you'd expect though, he just kept on playing
