Agreed

Sad about the marking for their goal but I was really happy with the performance especially given the injury situation. Their keeper made some great stops after we worked some clever openings. Even Tekkers seems to be increasing his contribution.
I would have been reluctant to make substitutions as we were dominating for long periods.
So for me, my cup is half-full. Despite the result I think the team played well and Roy managed to field a team that was worth at least a draw.

Many on here are never going to be happy with anything Roy does .... my opinion ... they are welcome to theirs of course.

Someone with a brain. And eyes.

Could not agree more we played more than well enough to deserve a point.

yes the striking options are limited but whats the point have a type of striker and not using them to their strengths this is what Roy is doing with Benteke plus he is not even interested in giving Connor any game time.

Looking at it Pardew and Roy are just the same only thing different is one is focused on attack the other defense

I can’t be arsed to check the managerial records. The football under Pardew and Allardyce in 2016/17 was diabolical. The worst since we’ve been back in the Prem.

Benteke doesn’t possess any strengths on the basis of the last two years. He and Wickham (unfortunate as he has been) are part / cause of the problem.

First ten minutes at best, then the rest of the half was 50/50 exactly.
As the second half wore on we increased the pressure with some of our players even being as bold as to do some flicks and twists ..Santa Claus had it well and truly wrapped up with red and blue tape, string and ribbons with huge red and blue flashing bells....

We made one defensive mistake today.

They are not part of the problem!
Injuries are not the problem either(mainly in defence but we are doing pretty well there)
The problem is the midfield, The captain and Kouyate are destroyers, not creators - they can't hold or pass the ball.
Benteke/Wickham/Ayew WILL score if we use the skilful men we have: McCarthy and Meyer (can't speak of Camarasa although he is allegedly a creative player)
Sadly the manager has only one method: stop the opposition from scoring - fine as far as it goes but then look at the 'goals for' column to see the pausity of that method

Their movement is shocking as demonstrated when they played together in the league cup. Benteke is like a pole and has lost the ability to hold the ball up.

We played a very different brand of football when we had Cabaye and RLC.

Meyer has only looked any good as an impact sub when the opposition is tiring

Big Sam did a great job when he was with us with what he had to work with and used Benteke correctly which got him scoring again also he was the one that managed to get the Americans to spend money on a few players which he selected himself like PVA, Luka, Sakho loan could be a few more I forgot.

Had he gotten proper backing would of stayed at the club and pushed us on.

Benteke appeared to do fine for Belgium the other day the guy is not even being used correctly as I said before at times today he was playing on the wing.

Regarding Wickham we dont know because he hasn't been used to see what he is about the same with so many others not getting chances.

Max again not given proper chance this guy was game changer for us last game yet he gets 5min only.

Heres to records comparing the two i said about

Pardew - W(35) D(13) L(39) Ratio(40.2)
Hodgson - W(37) D(24) L(40) Ratio(36.6)

No, Pardew had one agenda and that was to outscore the opponents, he then let Murray leave.
When Benteke misses an opportunity which he has many it is not because of Hodgson sitting on the sidelines, Benteke if you'd bothered to look scores both on the ground running with the ball and with running onto it ..as much as he used to score with his head, he is a fully rounded striker or was, today and against Brighton he does appear to be improving, Hodgson is clearly millions of miles better then anyone we have ever had as manager at this club and we are incredibly fortunate ..placing and results in this extremely tough league back me up and he does this with a relatively thin squad.

Can't be doing that bad compared to last season, 18 points last year, 23 this. (As an aside 3 of the bottom 4 were relegated last season at this time). AWB and Bats were late factors last season though. Imperative that we do all we can to strengthen this winter transfer with at least one quality player.

Not much difference then apart from the fact that Pardew and Allardyce spent a sh!t ton of money and we still nearly got relegated.

As you say. Allardyce left because he didn't get backed. Roy has been backed less.

We would've been relegated with Pardew because defensively he had not a clue when the goalscoring dried up which is exactly what happened, with Hodgson that's never going to happen is it, as an attacking force we have struggled with players form and injuries, do not forget Benteke was injured a while ago and struggled on for well too long before having his opp, players sometimes take a very long time if ever to recover.
