Fondly remember a game at White Hart Lane where everybody was expecting Gazza to shine but Geoff stole the show. A creator and brilliant captain who would push the team forward. With Bright and Wright in a formidable attack was the real link to them. Amen to that. One of our greatest ever. No argument.

Not watched much Championship football recently but today had the misfortune to see the Sheffield Wednesday v Bristol City game. It was dull, boring, lacking in quality and settled by a Barry Bannan penalty. It was utter sh!te. If and when we drop into that I really can’t see how it will be exciting compared to playing, and occasionally beating, the big guns albeit using defensive tactics. Personally I couldn’t give a monkeys about the new stand but think they should so something about the Arthur Wait

I haven't renewed by season ticket this year mostly for this reason. I've taken a break in the past to renew my enthusiasm. RRelegation wouldn't bother me at all, but we're too boring that even.

I’m not sure what the answer is....we are related to the championship and watch dull boring football just with less talented players ? Any talent we unearthed then leaves at 18 to sit on the bench of teams like Brighton ? Careful what you wish for.

Ask the fans of Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea, Huddersfield whether they prefer the Championship to the PL. As a previous poster said "be careful what you wish for".

We could be just as sh!t there or worse even. Also, there are a number of pluses being a premier league team, the pride in that alone being a quote, unquote, smaller club. I certainly enjoy that having grown up surrounded by United, Chelsea, Spuds and Arsehole fans. Agree entirely with the comments above particularly regarding the stadium and Arthur. I’d prioritise that in the event we ever reach the promise land of the next level and stay there 5 years at least. Week in week out it can be infuriating for sure, I’m still pi55ed off about Newcastle and pessimistic about the next few games which could be vital, but that also comes with the moments of sheer ecstasy. I had that after the Bournemouth game for a week. If we spend a decade in the premier league that will be more than I ever expected in the 20 years prior and not to be sniffed at.

I also understand what the OP is saying but, in little over twelve months, we've beaten both Manchester sides and Arsenal and given Liverpool two fantastic games. Also won goal of the Season (the real one not the plastic BBC version). I was fortunate and went to City with my thirteen year old son. A day we'll never forget. It would have been nice for those wins to have been at home but I've gone into work on a Monday grinning ear to ear after some of the results. Also, as you suggest, fans of the plastics have stopped taking the p!ss and actually have a bit of respect. The season before we came back from the dead and beat Chelsea, battered Leicester twice and played some great attacking football. When we were last in the Championship we had Zaha, Bolasie, Jedinak, Murray etc and the season before had Ambrose and a run to the league cup semi so there are some fond recent memories. However, seeing Wednesday's half full stadium (albeit there were 24k there) and the quality of the football was a stark reality check.

Of course none of our fans actually want us relegated, they just want more entertaining football. Sheffield Utd don’t play dull football, Wolves don’t play dull football, however both look like they could easily finish above us this season. A solid defence is essential in the PL but showing no intention of breaking down the opposition is indefensible.
