It does all feel a bit fragile at Palace and I do fear we’ll keep falling when we do eventually get relegated. Be a real shame if we have nothing but memories from our years in the Premier League. Was that new main stand thing just a big PR exercise trumped up by the two American ‘investors’ to keep fans off their back for a bit.

There’s too many people taking far more than they give when it comes to Palace.

From a conversation I had yesterday, this was apparently discussed on Sky Sports.

With Roy continuing to perform miracles with a non existent transfer budget, aging squad and only creative wanting out, what happens when decides to call it a day ?

We have the ingredients to fall like clubs such as Sunderland and Stoke.

Unless we get bought out or start planning post Roy, we could be falling rapidly.

F@ck me. We lost for the first time in a month and now we are in a path to disaster! Really?

Chill brother.

I don't feel like we are progressing. This side is worse than last year's and the football is getting worse every week.

That is complete b0llocks. We played well yesterday and their keeper played well. If we had scored the first goal we would have won comfortably. Just the way it goes. There have been plenty of occasions where we have knicked a win when hardly deserved. And as for no one watching I think you find we sell out most home games.

We are 5 pts better off than we were at the same time last season, despite only spending some £6 Mill on players, and losing Batshuayi from our strike force and no new striker brought in.

Errrrr...apart from the fact that Selhurst is sold out or near for every home game. Presumably they will all vanish...just like that!

The injury list is a big worry now, its is long term list of regular first team players, we just do not have any quality replacements so much so that Roy is forced to play Benteke just to make up the numbers, so unless we have new quality players in this window, its hard to see us doing very much in the next two or three months. then relegation becomes more likely. Sadly we do not have the expertise to plan for the future, if we did we would not be in this no striker situation and even now Parish has been aware of the long term injuries to key players and what is he doing about it?

1.Unless Zaha is sold in the January window we will not have the funds to bring in a few quality players.Possibly a Loan or two or a Free transfer or a modest investment in a player who will either not be known to supporters (Except Mattteo) or will not meet with overall approval.

2.Regards Parish, two words "Financial constraints".

Oliie Watkins has received plaudits at Brentford, a £1.8 Mill signing from Exeter, but Said Benrahma whom they purchased for £1.5 Mill from Nice, is a player I have enjoyed watching.

Thomas Frank their manager got off to a torrid start when taking over from Dean Smith when the team were 7th, losing 7 of his first 10 games in charge, but Brentford stuck with him and it is paying dividends.

Great article, thanks Willo. All the things Brentford are doing right and all the things we are doing wrong..... road to disaster, looking more likely every year.
Yes, if we can hold onto our place in the prem until our underperforming high wage earners leave (thank you so much Roy for getting us this far), but to replace with what? More of the same or do we have a stream of developing talent coming through the production line? Do we see any signs that our ability to recruit is improving?
Answer is we've seen nothing to indicate we have a sustainable strategy. Personally I do not blame Steve Parish or in fact anyone else for where we are. Simply down to circumstances. In truth we probably got promoted too soon before the new owners had developed our philosophy and we have had to fire-fight ever since.

We have the oldest squad in the league I believe and several hugely injury prone players living within it.

Roy has worked miracles to keep us up and I must admit I do fear for us once he goes.

We desperately, desperately need investment in some young players who can freshen us up and hopefully give us an attacking edge that we are desperately lacking.

Unfortunately the fact that we laughably gave Wickham a contract renewal tells me that the kitty is empty. Barring a takeover I fear that we will continue having to wheel and deal, trying to unearth diamonds from the bargain bin.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

and yet with all these things we do wrong & brentford do right we are the ones retaining PL status and brentford are the ones in the championship still!

funny old game, eh.
