It also requires the other 8 teams below us who are not in the relegation zone to overtake us as well. To me, the relegation benchmark is a point a game, and the three teams currently below that fill the relegation places. Even if we "lose our next three games", which I doubt, we will still be 4 points above a point a game.

I will still feel much happier if I see the new players roy needs coming in to the squad, without them we could well struggle for the rest of the season and find ourselves in the relegation fight, hope not but we have been there before!

I don't disagree, we need to bolster the squad.

Really? To me it looked like he was contributing a lot. Pulled defenders to him to free up space for Wilf, who ended up with plenty.

Adds an unpredictability, holds the ball as well as distributing it. And has a great engine.

Brilliant win, only 14 points to the magic 40. Going to be another tough game on Saturday, Saints doing well but we can beat them.

we are 8th in the table, above some massive clubs and you always remember our history.

Okay, so I got the scorers wrong but spot on with result.. so ya boo to the humbugs.

We may not be the most entertaining side or have a sustainable set up, but playing as consistent a side as injuries allow make us hard to beat, as Roy proved yet again today. No relegation worries this season me thinks, but as per previous threads, SP must support Roy in underpinning the squad.

Good go see JA back on the scoresheet.

Really ! He would have had an assist if Ayew put away that easy chance in the 1st. half from a few yards out! He and Kouyate have the best first touch in our squad, very comfortable on the ball which is more than can said for a few others who regularly start.

all things considered that was a superb performance and result, and you can see the spirit in the side, I thought we were looking jaded in our last few as well, and Meyer does seem to be stepping up and hopefully getting out of the habit of running around in a right handed circle after finding a dead end, Wickham's touch let him down once but he got right into it and looked fitter than he has done, you couldn't call his lay off to Ayew an assist but in terms of hold up play a finding man job done - merry Christmas to eagles everywhere.

Roy told it straight in his interview after the match. Said it's demoralizing to go into matches with such a thin squad, and he hopes SJ will sign 4-5 players during transfer window.

The trouble with this is that once everyone is fit again in a couple of months, we'll have too many players. The current situation is a bit of a freak one.

We certainly need a winger (two if Wilf goes). Right back and striker might as well wait until summer. This season is pretty much over now as it would take a miracle for us to get relegated or reach Europe.

Riedewald is capable of stepping in anywhere across the back line for a few weeks. If we do make signings, I hope they are short term loan deals for youngsters, with a view to buying in the summer. There's no need to waste money with panic buys like we usually do. We're not in a firefighting position like we have been in previous seasons.

100 per cent winning record on Amazon Prime.

I thought Wilf was exquisite today. Breathtaking skill.

Ref pretty good imo

Two West Ham fans next to me in AW, at least they had the sense to keep a low profile.

At least they likely paid more than the 30 pound away ticket, my son had to pay 48 quid for a ticket in the AW which as my signature implies is a disgrace in terms of facilities.

Again, I invite our Chairman to watch a game from the AW and then attempt to get F and B or go for a p!ss at half time.

Sadly you could hear the transfer wallet slamming shut today as one of my friends observed.

Despite all that, we could have had four or five with decent finishing and the Wet Spam throwing a sex toy onto the pitch after Snodgrass scored was appropriate as he is a cock

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Great win with a depleted team, the growing injury list is of deep concern, hopefully, Parish will come up with two or three quality signings sooner rather than later as the facts are, although in 8th position, we are still only eight points from the drop zone which means that it requires only for the third from bottom team to win three on the trot and for us to lose three on the bounce and hey presto we are in the relegation fight, so come on SP/DF support Roy get him the players he needs and prove to us that you can invest and find quality players who want to come to this club!

It of course doesn’t work like that because the teams just above won’t win all their games and some also play each other. We then win a few points and we’re not in the bottom 3.

It will always be 38-40 points to survive unless there’s a major change in spending rules that make squads equal in quality.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we bought nobody. They are only interested in survival. However, the problem can be bad finishing runs carry into the next season. See Pardew and Pochettino and others.
