Ypu all keep mentioning Glenn (amd some even Kevin Phillips for that 1 goal, but he scored like...what?..6 goals in total in the Championship?) and I see no one mentioning Deight Gayle.

Now, obviously, Glenn Murray scored a lot more for Palace in the Championship (well, Gayle was only brought in after the 2013 promotion), but after that moment, with Palace in the top division, Dwight played 75 matches in which he scored 25 goals, while Glenn scored just 8 in 37. Just shows the difference between the 2 at top level for Crystal Palace. Sure, Glenn was already getting older, but his age was not the issue actually. He did bag 25 more for Brighton at an advanced age in the PL ((8 were from the penalty spot though, so 17 from open play in 3 years with Brighton in the PL). But those were not for Palace and we're only talking about Palace accomplishments here.

Selling Gayle for cheap (12 million) and buying Benteke for 30 million (and a ginourmous salary which I hear they're willing to extend ) ) was one of the biggest mistakes the club could make. Yeah, Benteke is more of a bulky, slow center forward, better at headers and setting up midfielders and club wanted to go that route as it was probably unsure if Gayle could play lone center forward at his height, but he proved it by promoting Newcastle basically on his own and being top scorer in the Championship last year for West Brom by playing lone center forward.

Also, why is Luka in the starting 11? I know he's really overrated by a lot of the people here, but let's face it- Joe Ledley has a similar number of matches for Palace (about 100) and deserves that place about as much as Luka. Is it because he takes penalties?? Ok, he's a decent holding midfielder, I give him that, but not the great player some make him out to be. Plenty of errors since he came. He made captain because of fighting spirit, but that's what plenty of players have.

It should be about what players actually did on the pitch, not about who got the most matches for the club and just walked around in Alan Pardew's defeats on a row. Yeah, then Kelly and Ward would be in the Top 10, cause they have "served the club for a long time". But they didn't really contribute more than AWB or PVA in their shorter time at the club. Not even more than Schlupp.

My first 11:

GK: SPERONI/ GUAITA

DF: AWB, TOMKINS, DANN, PVA

CMF: CABAYE, JEDINAK,

AMF: PUNCHEON/TOWNSEND, ZAHA, BOLASIE

AT: DWIGHT GAYLE/ MURRAY

I'm pretty sure Cahill and Sakho will be on that list in a few years if they stay at Palace. McArthur is a good substitute for Cabaye. Even Milivojevic or Ledley for Jedinak.

You have got to be joking

For me it can't be anyone other than the Blessed St.Wilfred whose career with Palace (barring a brief interlude)has spanned the whole decade and who is surely guaranteed long lasting legendary status. A great player. Yes he has frailties but on the whole he has been a joy to watch over the years.

Sorry but I don't think Dwight Gayle deserves to be considered.

In his three seasons with us Dwight scored only scored 15 Premier League goals, and if my memory is correct, he scored two goals on four occasions which means he only actually scored in 12 games. In no way prolific and, but for those two goals against Liverpool and the winner at Villa, wouldn't be held in any esteem.

Well, considering that Gayle and Zaha are the only Palace Players who have scored 15 Premier League goals in the past decade (that weren't penalties- yeah, I'm talking about Milivojevic), he deserves to be considered. Murray didn't score much in the PL. Bolasie didn't score much. Puncheon didn't. Townsend didn't. They were wingers, but they did have their share playing as center forwards. I say Gayle is really the second best attacking player, after Wilf.

Oh wait, Benteke has 16 goals (without penalties). In 97 matches as THE most advanced center forward))

Gayle had his 15 in 63 matches, a third played as winger. And some of the other 10 goals up to 25 in Cup matches were against PL teams like Newcastle or West Brom.

Just saying....

The topic was PLAYER OF THE DECADE not team.

So enough with this Dwight Gayle etc etc nonsense.

It has to be Zaha in my opinion.

Agreed the only discussion is who comes second after Lord Wilfried of 'Neaf. And despite his limitations (many players are/were technically far better), that player has to be Jedinak. A leader.

And anybody who has seen Murray and Gayle in the flesh will understand that Murray is/was at a higher level in terms of clever movement and adding to a team's overall performance.

Gayle could strike a ball sweetly, and he was quick. But give me peak Murray over peak Gayle every single time.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.
