It depends if anyone leaves in January. There are one or two it may be difficult to hold on to.

A winger, striker and couple of full backs are needed, but I can't see the yanks spending any money.

Roy doesn't seem keen on loan players, so it's hard to see us getting what we need.

People stop with the we need a 20 a season goal scorer doesn't every one this is just silly.

What is the point in having that if they dont fit in to Roy style and dont have player around to provide the service which is the case now.

Right back is a must
Another winger is a must

nothing else really needed until summer

i expect we will loan a bunch of players with maybe 1 full signing could be more if others leave but in Palace fashion right at the end of the window and reject from another club.

Grumpymort you are correct a 20 goal a season striker is only relevant if he scores 20 goals in the team he plays for namely Palace.
I am not sure who we should sign that will fit into our team even if we had unlimited funds.
As for the rest you are probably correct with your prognosis.

Depends who leaves and if we can cut away some of the dead wood.

Caramassa (?) has not been a good signing and it may be time to cut our losses on Tekkers. I would have said sell Jairo but his performance on Boxing day makes me wonder. Maybe sell one of our two spare keepers.

If Wilf goes then maybe get the Batsman back, especially if he ends up at Chelski

I thought Reidewald made some telling contributions. He has the ability to see a first time pass that suddsnly breaks open an attack. Coul be a really useful player for us.
VAR isnt the only problem, yesterday Wolves got a goal from a massive shove today one that wasmore shoulder to shoulder is a penalty against Villa, consistency please.

I agree if players are moved out then it is a different scenario.

We may be needing both our other keepers if Man City/West Ham interest in VG have any basis.

1 right back to challenge Ward (who os the only right back by trade)

Maybe 1 central attack oriented midfielder (not found since Cabaye left and playing both Luka and Kouyate seems too much for a team which scored just 18 goals). Camarasa was meant to be him, but is he staying? And can he prove himself? Trouble is that all his goals for Cardiff came from a more advanced position, not from central midfield, which is his natural position.

Definitely 6 attacking players, as there should be 4 wingers, 2 attacking midfielders/ second strikers and 2 center forwards capable of scoring and creating. At the moment there are only 2: Jordan Ayew and Zaha. If we could get 15 million for Townsend, 10 for Benteke from China or Russia or whatever and 10 for Meyer, I'd buy 6 others (also send Wickham to get playing time and pull Schlupp back to left back position cause he sure isn't a competent winger).

A team with only 2 attacking players who actually do something is really weak. Just compare this Palace to when is had Zaha, Bolasie, Dwight Gayle, Murray, Puncheon, Townsend in good form, all competing for a place.

Most PL team have at least 6-7 good attacking players. We're in a decent league position cause of the defence, but it won't hold on forever. Without goals we'll get close to relegation zone in no time. Just 8 points clear, table is still open.

The needs are:-
To stay up
To reduce squad age
To encourage young players to step up.

Garry Cahill is a great addition - does a job for us now - will not be playing in five years time - encourages developing players in their aims to join the squad and have first team game time.

Expect someone around 28/29 or 18/19, positions depend on what Roy hears from club's health experts.

Personally if it was me, I would focus more on attack for transfers and give the youngsters more minutes in defence. As it will be hard to buy players in all positions and the budget won't be big.

For example, Mitchell, Riedwald,Tavares and Woods to be given more game time. AWB got a chance due to RB injury and he made the spot his own. Not saying these players will be as good as AWB but they could do okay for the side.

As for attack, if we could get another striker like Watkins of Brentford, and two wingers like Bowen, Benrahma, Eze we can definitely finish in top 8 at least and more goals scored. This will also support Zaha greatly, he has too much of the burden in terms of expectations when he needs better quality players and service

A new reserve keeper. Was I the only one cacking himself when WH was warming up?

Yes, I think that is completely correct, a new centre forward will only come in when Benteke leaves I suspect.
