There' a difference though. Edouard has plenty of goals in an average league that we can say has gotten almost as competitive as the Championship and has also scored plenty in the Europa League, so international experience.

Josh Maja was just coming from League One football until he was taken by Bordeaux (yes, he was amazin there given his age), but he only has those 6 goals in a Top level league. Let him grow and stabilize his market price, he may be an option in the future.

Edouard has about 25 goals and assists in 4 months. He is definitely an option at the present (though expensive). There's a difference.

I am just interested as to whether you have actually seen the majority of them play and the basis for the valuations against each player. Is it your estimate your is it a 'Market value' provided by some software package or website which also lists an array of players for each position ?

I have no issue with using the relevant 'Tools' in this manner to try and enlighten us all and maybe those who have the inclination to peruse the ever increasing list of players might find the information valuable in their quest to broaden their knowledge of players who plough their furrows abroad.

Willo, you asked me the same 2 days ago and I answered here: [Link]

And yes, I have seen all those players play. They have good mobility for a league such as the PL.

Makes very good sense what you say here. Heard about him at Sunderland and he did play for us in our youth team and bizarrely was at Citeh whilst being registered at Fulham !?! Surprised we didn't grab him in the summer.

"You Tube" snippets ? But these of course can prove very useful and informative.

With all the players you have listed, you really must have a great deal of time to view them and to form an opinion as to their abilities and suitability for the PL.

I readily admit that I haven't read through the entire 'Link' as it is basically the entire thread so at this juncture I don't know the basis for the valuations you have listed against each player.

Mostly on tv or in weekly reviews. For example, if on Mondays there's ashow about the Bundesliga weekly fixture and I watch it and see Quaison scoring a lot and having very good movement, then I know hom very well. I also watched him live in the Euro qualifiers for Sweden, as his country played against my country and could observe his overall movement and how good he got. I double check this with what I know about hom and there's a reason why he has become a stable starting center forward for Sweden in the last 2 years and has scored regularly at club level.

Same for the other players I listed. Edouard's team Celtic played against a team from my country in the Europa League and he played well. I see Morelos in Europa League reviews mostly, he scores a lot. His height however makes me think that we should go for a taller center forward, especially if we want an upgrade from Benteke or Wickham.

I've seen Bounedjah at the African Cup of Nations where he scored the winning goal for Algeria in the final.

Tiquinho Soares has played many matches in the Champions League, so is somewhat easy to follow on a weekly basis.

I've seen Andrasz Sporar in Europa League and international matches for Slovakia this year and I've been very impressed by the way he shoots and how full of fibre he is, making him very fast at the same amount that he is strong.

David Okereke impressed me while playing for FC Brugge in the Champions League and in Belgium this year. I wasn't sure in the summer as he was only coming from the Italian lower divisions, but this season he has gotten Top level experience and has showed that he can score. They have a very good team there at FC Brugge, with some really interesting players: Okereke, Percy Tau, Emmanuel Dennis, Krepin Diatta.

Cedric Itten has made his Switzerland national team debut so I got to watch him there a bit.

Habib Diallo usually appears in the Ligue 1 weekly reviews, cause he has had a few great months with a lot of goals for newly-promoted Metz, given that he was a fairly unknown player before.

Actually, investigating the possible transfer cost, with the French media quoting at around 10 million euros or even there being an apparent 7 million release fee in his contract, ot would not be a bad investment at all.

[Link]

But the problem is that Palace could not just rely on Jordan Ayew, Maja and Benteke/Wickham. We need something more reliable there. If there was a player of Maja's calibre in a different position, I'd say "grab him".

You know what would have been really good business? That when cash-strapped Sunderland sold him to Bordeaux for 1.5 million 1 year ago (yeah, you read that right, just 1.5 million for a 20 year old goalscorer in League One!), if we would have bought him and loaned him out for a couple of years,so that by 22-23 he'd have come back here and been that striker we actually need.

Looks like Chelsea want to do this with him. And Everton too.

Thank you very much.

Please forgive me, if you have already provided an answer, but I would just like to be enlightened as to valuations that you place against the players.

the irony in you trying to belittle a poster with actual knowledge when you plagiarise on a daily basis is ironic at the very least.

to make up my own analogy, comparing matteo & willo is like comparing neville & shearer. both in football careers & punditry.

I refute the charge that I was belittling Mattteo in any shape or form.I have been exceedingly respectful of him and have praised him for the time and effort he expends furnishing us with details of a plethora of players from abroad who many previously might not have heard of.I do generally read through the lists to broaden my knowledge if I happen to cast eyes on the relevant posts. You have clearly mis-read my sentiments.

Your charge that I plagiarise on a daily basis is as regrettable as it is inaccurate.I do try to make valid contributions and don't seek any credit for the information I provide.I don't possess the gift of anorakish recall so often have to refer to sources of information to provide an array of detailed stats.

What I do retain, for some reason, is knowledge of players in this country, which has drawn comments of "Sad" and "Statto" from those outside this site with whom I have engaged in conversation often over a tipple or two! Maybe this knowledge will diminish as I approach 70 which is only 3 years away !

I am far more self-deprecating that self-promoting on HOL and bow down to all those far more cerebrally blessed than 'Yours Truly'.

Perhaps now that I have responded to your barbs, the thread can return to the subject matter.I am not steeped in knowledge about Josh Maja so please enlighten me!
Thank you and have a good weekend.
