Really unfair post on Roy. The problem is with the board, including Steve P, not Roy. What Roy has achieved at Palace this season is phenomenal with a tiny squad, horrendous injuries and almost no recent investment. Roy is the only thing good coming out of the club right now. Exciti g football, No, but he's keeping us in the premiership with a poor squad. Thanks Roy.

Good post. This is my 36th year of having a season ticket and I don't think I've ever been so bored as watching us this season. Every game is the same - we just sit back and let teams attack us - all except in the last 15 mins when Roy realises we're losing and lets us attack and then we actually look OK. We don't press teams, nobody risks having a shot from distance and subs are always like for like. I see that Roy wants 2 strikers and 2 full-backs - yet the striker we are linked with is Tosun - another failure at this level. We already have PL failures on crazy contracts - we don't need another. In any case, as someone else implied, we could sign Kane and Aguero and they wouldn't score for us because we don't create anything. Corners are a joke; we've scored I think 9 goals in 12 home league and cup games, and we've scopred 2 goals in open play in the first half in 23 games this season. Sorry, but Roy must go.

I concur with your sentiments lauding Roy Hodgson.
Fully deserved.

In the circumstances that have been in place in all the time Roy, has managed Palace, it’s ridiculous to think he should be able to please the purists , and keep the club in the top league. The best we had ,needed improvement to progress. The fact is it was not improved as a squad with depth, it was in fact left depleted, before the season even started, right now it’s barely good enough to play in the championship, that is unless managed by one of the best tacticians around.
This is Palace, I beg to differ, if anyone thinks it cannot get any more difficult to watch. It makes me shudder to think what real boredom, has been watching Palace, through my lifetime, which covers every division except the Southern league.

Those of you that say you are long standing supporters but have never been so bored / seen such dull football have obvious erased the era of Mullery, Taylor, Francis and early Freedman from your memory banks. All of which was played out at a lower level.

As for entertainment, well it depends what you are looking for. I like to see Palace be competitive in the top league in the world. I want to see the best players and the best teams. I want to see them survive in the Premier League. So I take my entertainment in seeing Palace finish mid table. Upset a few of the big clubs along the way.

Roy Hodgson can be relied upon to deliver most of the above. And that is what the present ownership's top priority is - staying in this league. When Man Utd appointed Mourinho do you think their first priority was for him to deliver attacking, exciting football - or to win trophies ? So I say again, it's about how you derive your entertainment.

The football is turgid but far better than we saw when Freedman was in charge (2010/11?). Hodgson has performed wonders in the circumstances, criticism should be aimed at Board level not the manager.

We have been very much "Snakes and ladders" this season but I believe we have now reached our high-water mark and we will land on the snake this weekend and in all likehood a few more snakes until the end of the season.

Sorry, but you are saying what a great tactician Roy is! He has one plan - when that doesn't work he is lost. I go to matches to be entertained and hope we score some goals (and the opposition score less). What we are seeing every week is just dire. Yes, he's been let down by the board over signings but nobody's ordered him to play 3 DMs every game regardless of opposition.

Definitely ,a snake coming up, in the fixtures.
If there are no worthwhile signings, sooner than later, and the majority of injuries dealt with before the beginning of Feb, the snakes could become one huge Python, with its tail in eighteenth position.
No matter what the reasons have been, the board have been playing with fire for some time now. If none ,or little of the above happens, then ,Palace, being in the PL come May, will be because we have 28 pts in the bag. and Lady Luck smiles kindly on a regular basis.

Excellent.

May I humbly enquire whether you write for that weekly Croydon publication affectionately referred to on occasions as the "Adder" ?

We've had scoring problems for lots of seasons, our last excellent scorer was Murray by a country mile but we have struggled to find anyone consistent in this league from day one and this has led to the problem we have now, thankfully Hodgson has organised the other end because if we he let him go we'd be relegated tomorrow.
