Probably not but I always thought ‘Billy Hunt’ by The Jam would be a great chant for him.

This type of transfer no longer seems to happen at Palace.

I have no idea if Billy Sharp would work but the OP has a point.

I can remember plenty of players from my youth that Palace signed as a short stop gap solution. There was a full back we signed from Plymouth (I think) he was a legend at their club and at the end of his career he got six months - 1 year with us in the top flight. Plymouth let him go as a thank you and for a while he did a decent job for us.

Even teams like Liverpool and Man United would buy the occasional over the hill player as cover.

We need young and up and coming players but I suspect there are plenty of old soldiers who could do a job for us in the lower leagues and would be happy to be on the bench just for the chance of a run-out in the PL.

Anyway not to be sniffed at especially as we don't appear to be spending serious money.

What? Our whole existence is predicated on old soldiers at the moment.

I was in conversation with some gentleman on Tuesday afternoon and Billy Sharp was part of that chit-chat.
He informed me that whilst Sharp isn't very tall, he has scored a number of goals from headers and has also scored a large number of tap-ins.Has had a reputation as being physically strong and a tireless worker but lacks that extra burst of pace at this stage of his career.Nigel Adkins has managed Sharp at 4 clubs.

No that's not what I am saying. January is supposed to be a bad time to buy players so if we can't get our first choice then maybe we might consider a stop gap until the end of the season.

Just what we need, Sounds to me, like he’s an Ideal candidate for Strictly Come Dancing. 👍
