If you want a laugh and a taste of a totally delusional gooner then this is the link to follow. Tends to ignore the fact Xakha committed 6 fouls in the first half alone with Kolasnic not far behind him.

Nary a mention of the Thompkins header that was almost all the way in?

I was unhappy how we set up for the game.
This is the third game where Meyer has played on the right and it doesn’t work from an attacking or defensive standpoint.
He hasn’t got the pace/strength to play the role and can’t tackle.
It’s almost as if Hodgson is setting him up to fail.
I also see it as pointless for Wilf to continue to play in a narrow channel on the left about 60 yards by 20 yards.
He is so easy to contain when he plays in a confined space.
If he’s tightly marked and can’t get a kick he needs to be able to move around the field. We have 3 defensive midfielders and a solid back 4 which should provide enough defensive cover to allow more movement across the field from him.
It’s almost as if he’s playing in a straitjacket.
Set Wilf free - and I don’t mean by transferring him!

Play Wilf on the right. It still enrages me that our most gifted player plays on the wrong side of the pitch.

Looking back, it was good Arsenal scored when they did. Roy holds us back so much against the bigger clubs, and at least we had to chase the game. I must admit I was frustrated with Wilf, and didn't credit enough the fact that the might be injured. I can't understand why we'd play a player like him injured. Or why he'd accept selection.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.

Extremely poor management to let any player play who is carrying in an injury if this is the case.
There is every chance of the injury being aggravated and thus the player being out for longer, and the player's fear of aggravating the injury thus the failure to apply 100% to the game.

"Intent" is totally irrelevant.
The fact of the matter is that the challenge was worthy of a red card.

Danny Murphy, who I quite like, said it was not a red! A lot of pundits seem to be going down the "he is not nice bloke" route. Never met him so can't comment but that was a red all day long.
I agree with Willo how did it take VAR so long?

I've been wondering whether the MOTD pundits were more influenced by their anti-VAR agenda, than any real belief that it wasn't a red card. Remember, Linekar tweeted that our goal should have stood the other week when Wilf's elbow was supposedly offside.

I still think there was slight malice in the tackle, perhaps borne out of Aubameyang's frustration that he wasn't getting the ball much in the second half. I don't think he meant to injure Meyer, but anyone who has played football at any level knows that going in with your studs up at that height is dangerous.

Totally agree with this. Meyer should be in the number 10 role but Roy will not give up his 3 defensive CMs.

Big critic of Meyer but thought he was overall pretty good saturday. That said, his weaknesses still showed. The cross for our goal was a lucky mis-hit ball and then he had that volley laid on a plate which he squewed pathetically wide without any power whosoever. As it stands with injuries im happy with his inclusion as there are signs he is improving/getting fitter. Personally think that if he needs the space he did in Germany then he needs to play DM, pulling strings in a cabeye esque role. Of course further forward is more Max but it seems too congested and physically demanding up the pitch for him to be effective.

Next whinge up despite the impressive fight and effort shown by the team was Wilfried. Was he injured? Was he playing for a move to Arsenal, wanting to keep them as a big club within touching distance of us? Whatever it was he should have been subbed for Wickham / Pierrick. Really under par from him.

Two biggest pluses. Firstly Jairo. What a great game. Ok so he still cant defend seamlessly and can get done with a yard of pace, but the rest of his game is superb. Great engine, great footballer and gets us up the pitch. Much needed energy in the absences of JS, PVA and Andros. So much improved and really enjoyable to watch.

Second plus and biggest of all. Vicente! What a keeper. He just oozes class, calm, crazy, respect..and never say die and at all costs with everything he does. Proper palace player and really doing the business...that save!! Motd chose to ignore...quietly becoming a cult hero and one of the best in the league imo. Give a f*** he occasionally kicks it out by mistake, if he didnt he'd be signing for a CL club tomorrow.

Really encouraging and pleasing performance given the current injury crisis. Well done the boys! UTP!
