The crap that terrestial TV are putting out has a lot to do with it. Take Doctor Who as an example. They may have wonderful CGI nowadays but the series isn't a patch on the old days and it isn't just me looking at the past through rose coloured glasses as my young son isn't that bothered about watching it either

The original Dr. Who used to scare the bejesus out of me and William Hartnell wasn’t very reassuring.
I have a friend who’s convinced the Doctor spent his time battling the Sober Men.

3 - 2 - 1 with Dusty Bin - now that's great telly!

I think the quality of content/ series/ programmes available to watch is at an all time high. So much good stuff out there. But the way it's consumed has obviously completely changed - and this kills the majority of any sense of a 'communal watch'... did you see xyz last night etc. That's the only downside I feel - which is a big one at that.

3 2 1 with dusty bin would be a good title.-local rough wives off the estate take on 3, 2 0r 1 people.

Gladiators-as above but rougher.

im a celebrity get me out of here-well know celebs are put in a locked room with 4 boozed up chavs on Viagra.

I'm sorry folks but TV is of a higher quality than ever if you want to find it.
Yes, we enjoyed some stuff in the old days but the pay channels have brought cinema quality drama into our living rooms. There is a much higher sophistication to plots and the writing is generally altogether better than the old days.
Equally, there is also a lot of garbage aimed at teens and 20 somethings, but terrible TV has always existed. It's just a different kind now.

I like the ability to watch multiple episodes of a show and if you want to watch it one week at a time you can still do that too.

Sure you have classic comedy from days gone by like Porridge and Fawlty Towers and the odd drama series that has stood the test of time but most of it was crap in hindsight.

The other advantage we have is that all the old programmes are still available.
Modern films are much less interesting than modern television.

I watched an old rerun of that a few years ago on challenge because I never understood the format, I was a kid when it was on TV originally. I still don't have a clue what was going on this time around either

Remember when you used to have to wait for a wed/ fri to watch a certain program, you’d go to work, building site/ office and everyone would be talking about that episode.
It’s gone now, fu*king killed it.
Watched the King Gary pilot a year ago (I’m sure most on here would look down their noses at a program like this , similar to they do to people that read the sun) but I couldn’t give a f*ck , watched the first episode in series one, then the next 5 on bbc iplayer, in the same night.
Will be the same with ‘this country’ which is out soon, I don’t really get why this would be an advantage to the people that make the program, as they are aired at prime time.
One more thing for the ‘need it now generation’ , which I am part of. Shame we get the option, these programmes could really build interest like the old shows used to.
I remember the only fools and horses Christmas specials, could hear a pin drop in our house, nowadays it would be available in September.
Shame.

I totally agree, the absence of any noisy laughter was painfully apparent.

While we've lost a little anticipation, I grant you, if on-demand means there's now zero inclination to ever watch Big Break or You Rand M'lord, it's tough to see past the positives.
