I guess I'm just not that invested in Bond. I've never read a book and the only recent Daniel Craig one I saw was the one where Judi died on the Scottish moors. I didn't think much of it. So to shake up a tired franchise I could see the reason in some 'revolutionary' casting changes. If it was to go down that line I'd go with the fella from the last True Detective series. He was great. As for blacking up I wasn't aware that part of Idris' future Bond contract was going to include whiting up Maybe I've not been giving it my full attention. For me, if someone is consistent for all, then while I don't think it's a realistic position it's a position that I can at least respect. It's the 'colour blind' stuff....the old MJK junior routine. The problem is that's not the game anymore. The only demographic going on about 'I have a dream' are white liberals and no one else is listening. However as a principled position it's a respectable one.....it's just that it ends up with you being Captain Smith and going down with the ship.
