I've often pondered how it came to be so that modern day generations of Germans and Japanese can be ok with say....Dresden and Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I get it from our perspective but from there's what you have is effectively a social conditioning of future generations of accepting an historical guilt for the actions of a minority of elites and commanders.....It's a form of mass Stockholm syndrome.

Yes it was just the few Nazis at the top - everyone else was just following orders. Hitler wasn't popular at all.
Same for the Japanese, they were forced to mistreat prisoners and rape Chinese women. The Emperor made them do it.

I saw a good documentary about this. This African tribe had a legend that priests who carried the ark escaped when the Babylonians? attacked and took the ark to Africa.

Their religious practices were largely Jewish.

What made the program better than the usual conspiracy nonsense was it was based on science. The scientist used their legends to trace their journey through various countries and found that their stories matched with the local legends in those other countries. Apparently they settled in several places for many years before their current location.

The clincher was that the DNA proved this tribe had largely Jewish DNA where other African tribes didn't.

So the legend of their journey was pretty much proved. As for the ark well no proof of that.
