Similarly the grass roots will reject the moderates and globalists within the GOP who want to slide the party to the left and permanent defeat.

More are waking up the the fact that the GOP doesn't serve their interest, only their own....well their own and Israel's.

Trump was only a half way house....a nineties Democrat. We need a real conservative who's going to have the balls to draw the line in the sand.

It will certainly be interesting to see what outlook and policies the party settles on. I'm not sure that I can believe that there could be a dramatic change to the party in the here and now. Maybe 8 years down the line, the old guard will have lost their grip somewhat, but prior possibly a significant third party could apply pressure much as Nigel Farage did. That's why I suspect they have an interest in hobbling Trump even if it hurts them short term, but stopping him hold office. They are not looking to change, even if it is coming.

Or didn't engage in proxy wars in Yemen through Saudi Arabia? Or didn't sell record numbers of weapons in a hope of militarising Asia?

Because if you do believe any of those, they are false beliefs…

He had John Bolton as his National Security Advisor... he's about as war hawk as it gets.

What wars did he start?

True.

I'm kind of getting bored with politics now.

The monoculture of globalism of either right or left means that there are a hell of a lot of people not being properly represented.....the amusing joke being that now just thinking that globalism is a net negative means that you're regarded as an extremist.

Trump stood for nothing at all.

He was a dead and dried up reed blowing in the wind, with the racists like Bannon and Miller the biggest blowhards.

The GOP are in all sorts of trouble now. They have Mitch McConnel openly blaming Trump for the sedition and Ted Cruz and co still kissing Trumps ass. They are split in two currently and that wont lead to gains in the mid terms.

Mitt Romney needs to be applauded for being basically the only GOP politician to consistently stand up to Trump and his bulls***. As for Lindsey, Mitch, Ted, Josh and Marco, and the rest, they are absolute rat cowards.

I hope for your sake that someone without the last name Trump can take a hold of the GOP and make them actually stand for conservative values again such as fiscal restraint, instead of being a cult of personality with no real conservative values beyond easy talking points like abortion.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

I didn't say he started any... But if that's your only metric for determining if someone plays an active role in furthering the military industrial complex, while ignoring all of their other foreign policy - that's very one dimensional view in my opinion.

Trump stablised the foreign policy mess that Obama left him. He was the first president to try with North Korea and he ended with a reduction in tensions...something Obama couldn't do.

He tried to bring all the troops home but the deep state actually worked against that and lied to him....boasting about it in his last few days.

While Trump was there neither China nor Russia became bold militarily. Lets see how that goes with Biden.

The problem is that there is so much invested in crushing anything that upsets globalism. Occupy Wall Street was a good example of that. It almost doesn't matter what people believe, left or right, if it gets in the way of the perceived economic interests at the time it's bulldozed.

Left and right are in the same boat in a lot of ways, as they are both left with little other than a pushed and paid for dislike of one another, which is the extent of their say and influence. Even in a pandemic the rich get richer. Different worlds.

Fiscal restraint hasn't been a conservative value for fifty years......they only give a s***e about it when Democrats are in power.

Also forgive me, if I disregard what you...a rampant activist Democrat, thinks about what conservative values should or shouldn't be.

Both left and right leaderships are pro globalism as that's the nature of politics and where its funding come from....perhaps less said about that.

However both parties also have significant anti globalist wings. On the left they have been kept occupied as weapons against Trump and in this capacity they have been both protected and supported by democrats.

Now that the Democrats have actual power that internal tension and struggle becomes much more interesting. No doubt they will try to direct them against Republican states.

On the right the rise of Trump came as a genuine shock to the system. The GOP rode the wave and now want to resume the gravy train losing as normal.

Their problem is that their grass roots have far more to lose long term than Democrats do.....So as a consequence of that radicalism is inevitable.

Some think it's going to travel the way of the Romneys....I'd say it's far more likely to be the Cruzes....or a new figure.
