Perhaps this has something to do with the tepid lack lustre football we are dished up every other week. We cannot score, or even look like scoring at home against Derby, Southampton or Sheff Utd. Difficult to get too excited if I am honest. When did we last go in at half time 2-0 up at home?

The football is all too predictable and as you correctly describe as "tepid lack lustre".

The football may not help, but the real issue is all-seater stadia. Anfield is having a historic season with amazing football and players, but oftentimes the atmosphere up there is still stone dead. German football, right through the top 2 divisions, has a great atmosphere. They have large terraces. Just like we used to.
If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities. |

There are comments "in inner circles" that the players miss running to the corner where the HF were always, they are feeling slightly disconnected from their new position in Holmesdale, its lost that edge. Their "extra man" has been lost to them... Other teams used to hate taking corners. Plus HF, my friend who came along to last match, said he felt the "voice of the HF" had got monotone, because there rarely is a break in the singing. He was however very impressed with the passion and how long they can keep it up. His suggestion, "crank up the volume", pull in the crowd around you, then take a break. Do it again, outburst the volume, bring in the crowd. He suggested that the fans around them were not joining in "It was almost them & us"; maybe its because of the "filler" songs, that create volume but do "perhaps nothing" to motivate the team or the fans around them. Many fans too are still unhappy with the "HF move this season", the way it was handled and negative "atmosphere" spreads. Thought I would pass on my friends thoughts, he can only come once or twice a season due work commitments/constant call outs...

Considering the football hasn't been great at Selhurst, the atmosphere from the Holmesdale is pretty impressive, certainly when comparing against other PL grounds. It takes more to get the rest of the ground going. It's woeful when compared to certain other European crowds. Safe standing is coming and will hopefully improve the atmosphere at English football grounds.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

Our first, and maybe second season back in the premier league, it was the noise our fans made that everyone noticed. The football really wasn't that great. The fans made a noise, a big one, regardless. A few years later, older fans have become complacent, and newer fans are very premier league, they come to watch football, not make a noise.

Before that it was probably the Leicester 5-0 game the previous season.

In the old days of terracing you could just go and join the singers. Not anymore. So put 400 people together in the middle of the homesdale and that’s your lot.
