Looking at the reverse fixtures we've already played. I'd normally expect us to be able to pick up home wins against Newcastle and Burnley, but we have been shocking at home and will line up in the same negative way again.

We were crap at home to Brighton for the first 75 minutes. I can't see things being different away. Bournemouth and Villa are both pretty rubbish so we might be able to scrape something.

Leicester strolled to a 2-0 win at Selhust. We wont beat them away.

Only way we stand a chance against Liverpool is if they have won the league before we play.

Only against Southampton were we shocking taking into consideration the strength of our squad due to injuries for that game and the strength of Southamptons which was very good, we are very average in regard to being able to play the ball out from the back which is what Hodgson wants them to do, sometimes it's good and we get away with it others we don't, Hodgson needs help from the players and recently he is not having any from them, this is their problem not his.

I like your positivity and you are right in recent times we have put a strong run in at the end of the year. In my opinion we have an experienced manager but is limited in his set up and in our situation with so many poor displays this season, especially at home and devoid of any attacking intent I am concerned Roys out of ideas. The Zaha tactic looks busted now, double if not treble up on him and thats our game plan nullified. I agree, I like Tosun but when you look at what he has behind him i'm not sure it matters who we had striker wise. Our midfield is so rigid and predictable it must be awful for an attacking player. Not a single one of the midfield 3 has an ounce of natural creative instinct in them. Its painful.

This. 3 defensive midfielders every match is slowly killing this club in this era. The owners share the part in that, but then Roy refuses to change anything during matches so we have to accept it might work or we get a goal in the next match or the next match or the one after that.

At least provide us with armchairs to watch it.

4 Home wins against the teams in 16th 17th 18th and bottom.

Two of those teams had 10 men.

The lowest number of goals scored at home in the league.

To borrow from PatrickA's post on the 'moaning' thread:

"Sky has produced a table as follows on Palace’s place in the division this season under Roy,
Goals 20th
Shots 20th
Shots on target 19th
Chances created 20th
Crosses 18th
If this is ,as some would say , Roy doing a great job I’d hate to see him doing a bad job.
"

Sorry, but Hodgson has to go now. If he stays then we're down. I just cannot see how some on here can still defend Hodgsion and his boring tactics.

Well lucky that Sky's cherry picked statistics to push headlines don't mean F all when it comes to the actual Premier League table then isn't it...

Cherry picked doesn't seem an appropriate description, they are the headline figures for a team's attacking performances, and they are pretty damning.

Back to the question at hand - yes.

Reason for this is I maybe do see Hodgson being able to limp us over the line but am more optimistic that an appropriate appointment would be able to boost things as opposed to make it worse.

Performances are almost impossible to make worse and unfortunately now the results have stopped so the only way surely is up?

This is a very blunt footballing response and I am ignoring here the fact I am grateful to Roy for what he has achieved and respect him on a personal level.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

If someone said we have the ‘joint lowest goals conceded outside the top 3’, would you call that cherry picking?

The reason I say cherry picked is because we have had 1 fully fit 'premier league' quality forward player for the whole season in Wilf and even he hasn't turned up this season yet. I love Ayew but realistically he shouldn't be the lead striker at any premier league team. We've had no fit right winger and only have defensive minded midfielders available to us. Yet we're 14th in the league, we've won more games this season than Arsenal and have given some of the top teams in this league a tough game. As much as we are 6 points off the relegation zone - we're also 6 points off 7th in the league.

Yet people are suggesting that Roy should be sacked when there probably isn't a manager available to us at this stage in the season that would do a better job. Ridiculous. If we are winless in the next 4 games, then and only then should we perhaps worry.

Given it is a solitary statistic, I would say yes that is "cherry picking".

You could use it as a positive defensive stat or used to reflect our extremely dull, anti-attacking tactics.
