Slightly off topic, but I would guess whether you are pro or anti Hodgson it would have to be acknowledged that Hodgson is not a long term solution.
Assuming we do manage to stay up under him what then?
If he signs a one year deal how does this impact on long term transfer policy.
Hodgson has shown an aversion to using young players who are not experienced in the Premier League.
Does this mean more Cahill/McCarthy type signings?
There’s little purpose in signing players that he won’t use , but at the same time the club has to have an eye of life beyond Hodgson for the manager who succeeds him.
The best solution for me would to have a clean break with Hodgson at the end of the season.
However, with the uncertainty around the ownership at the moment it may be the club elect for a short term fix of giving him another year.

He would have to go. Signing seasoned pros on big wages isn't sustainable. The future lies in a blend of youth and experience, Hodgson has shown an aversion to youth.
Plus, if the club gets new owners one would expect them to have their own ideas about who will be the manager and their vision for the club.
Roy came in at the right time, but it seems like he has run out of motivation and inspiration.

NO !!!!!!!

No way.... he's done us proud with the available squad, and there's nobody gonna do better at this stage in the season.

Mine's a light and bitter.

It is frustratingly futile trying to get common sense into the minds of some of our fans, but you've at least given it a very good go.

Thank you very much. I do appreciate how being a Crystal Palace fan can quite easily cause you to lose your mind...

Good question, I don't know the factual answers to the question - however, none of the answers I come up with can be placed under the blame of the manager. And because of that, I cannot see any positive reasons why Roy should be sacked at this point in the season. No other manager, available now, will get better results out of this team than Roy from now until the end of the season, in my opinion.

Of course in saying this you are assuming that a different manager would pick the same team. You don't think perhaps he might drop McArthy, Benteke, Dann and Milivojevic and replace them with other squad players like Kouyate who is better than Dann at centre half, Riedewald who at least can pass a ball, a proper winger on the right ie Townsend and Ayew in his correct position up front. That is 4 changes in an instant without considering young Perrick and Meyer.

Roy may well be the best man for the job, but not with this triple defensive midfield he keeps picking. Do you honestly think, that given our squad he is currently picking a) the right team for each match and b) making the correct substitutions? and c) makiong the substitutions at the correct time.

I am astonished at how many fans still want Roy to stay the football is so boring, his subs are questionable look at Everton as example 2-1 down and still does not bring on Townsend.

People say no one else out there could do better, he is doing the best he can with this squad is total nonscence.

The way people talk is our team is really bad, we have a strong 15/16 man squad that should be competing for 9th, 10th or 11th place.

Look at Sheff Utd name me any players that would walk in our first 11.

If a new manager came in he would have new ideas more likely to play more attacking football which in turn will create out strikers with more oppotunities which will result in more goals.

Im sorry but he has to go before it is too late however the answer is he wont go and we have just got to hope that these negative tactics give us 3 more wins.

Then next season we can look to move forward without him.

Roy is so cautious I reckon he carries out a risk assessment before getting into bed every night

Care to elaborate, because i'd kick him out now ! And yes I am more than happy to elaborate why.

Just ask Fulham, and the dippers

Ask me after the next game. I saw us at Newcastle we were all over them but due to the usual failings in front of goal we contrived to lose. If there is one game we should win / can / must win its Newcastle at home. If we don’t get something from it then what are the chances of getting the points we need from the following games

I think our transfer policy won't change regardless of who the manager is.

In which case we might struggle to attract anyone other than the desperate

I fully understand how frustrating it is watching a game that quite clearly needs an injection of something from the bench but no I don't think that there is many other options than the team Roy is picking right now. Only argument I would have is for Townsend to start in front of Ayew but then I also understand that Townsend is the only explosive substitution we have available to us right now. Tosun and Benteke haven't both been available for selection at the same time yet so we don't know what will happen there. And do you honestly think that our season will depend upon Pierrick and Meyer? Meyer is a good player, just maybe hasn't adjusted too well and Pierrick is way short of Premier League quality yet.

At the end of the day, Roy see's these players in training day in, day out, he see's the attitude from every single player and then makes an informed decision from the vast footballing knowledge and experience he has to make the best team for each game. It's ludicrous for any of us to assume we know more about football and the current Palace team then him.
There is no benefit for Roy to not pick the best team he has available to him every single Saturday, so why would he purposely pick a sub-standard team?

My Fulham mate would argue Roy was the best thing that's ever happened to them as he took them to their only European final. And Liverpool were to blame for their failings, Roy was made a scapegoat - even Liverpool fans will tell you that.
