U.K. interest rates cut by 0.5%, from 0.75% to 0.25%.

Get ready.

I see the Italians have their priorities in order. Complete lockdown apart from Italian teams playing home matches vs European opposition. Getafe are refusing to travel to Inter Milan for Thursday’s Europa League match.

Man c v Arsenal tonight postponed due to Olympiakos owner testing positive and a group of Arsenal players meeting him 12 days ago. Their 2 week self isolation ends on Friday.

It is noticeable by reading the threads how old a large number of HOL regular members are with many of us in their sixties and seventies. If I remember correctly there are also quite a few of us who have medical issues so the likelihood of several of us contracting this virus is quite high.

Let's hope that we all manage to get through it unscathed

You have said you are in the endangered group. What is misleading about all this media frenzy is that at least 18,000 people die in the UK each year from flu already, nobody says a word. Now we have this new strain of flu, which kills the elderly with under lying health issues and now the world panics. Not undermining the issue, but the futility of buying a years worth of big rolls is strange.
Yesterday I had to go to a customer near Costco in Croydon, it was carnage with traffic jams to get anywhere near Costco, there was a rumour they had a bog roll delivery.

I have a sore throat and a temperature but feel fine. I rang work and was told in no uncertain terms not to go in. There's not even any snooker on the tele. I was just going to go to work. There must be plenty of people in my position.

Covid-19 spreads faster and wider and kills quicker.

It isn’t the same and anyone thinking it is and not washing sufficiently will be in denial and could be part of the problem, just like people stockpiling hygiene essentials.

Statistics claim that on average 600 people die every year in the UK from complications arising from flu not 18,000

Additionally most at risk people are offered a vaccination every year against flu which seems to be quite effective - it certainly is in my case anyway

All schools; cinemas; museums etc in Poland now closed due to Coronavirus and yet this is a country with only 25 cases so far reported and no fatalities (at the time of making this comment) :

Is our Government guilty of being REACTIVE rather than being PROACTIVE?

Coronavirus is roughly 30 times more lethal than a standard flu virus, can survive in the air for some 30 minutes and appears to survive on hard surfaces for potentially weeks. Clearly this is a biological weapon and not just another seasonal virus.

200,000 people are currently attending the Cheltenham Festival.

What a joke.

I tend to be of the opinion "better safe than sorry". We still don't know enough about this virus to be casually dismissive of it.

If we don't take robust precautionary action then we could regret it. It's easy just to dismiss a few thousand deaths if it is happening to other people. If it is your family or friends dying then it's a different matter.

It is not a strain of flu as some people suggest, although many of the symptoms are similar. If we can contain it this season then there should be a vaccine available should it reappear next winter. And the good news is that the Covid 19 virus is, according to medical sources, unlikely to mutate in the way flu viruses do.

I'm on the cusp of the high risk age group and I also have a chronic underlying medical condition.

Perhaps now is my time. Life - overrated, I say.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

Bizarrely not. But children are unequivocally prime spreaders of viruses...
