I hear that Tom Hanks has been diagnosed with the virus...no one's within a green mile of him.

Apologies.

Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

f*** well just got the news Slovakia is in complete lock down.

I'll post more in a bit, but literally everything is shutting down

Probably the most sensible thing is to shut down until the warmer weather when flus tend to reduce. But I understand how that's going to feck with your business.

Sometimes life sucks harder than a Texas call girl.

The problem with locking down the country:

If you close the schools and nurseries to protect the kids it means that the parents will have to find a way to look after them. What if the parent is a healthcare worker and can't find anyone?

For some working from home is an option but there are many key sectors such as Health (hospitals nursing homes) and emergency Services and Retail it is not an option.

There is no easy answer to this so I can understand why the government is reluctant as shutting stuff down will impact the population in other ways.

Good luck everyone

Also if you close the schools the children will meet up anyway. Just like during the school holidays.

I think there is a massive over reation and (although I feel very dirty saying this) I agree with Johnson.

Not worried in the slightest about getting it. If you get it, you get it. If you don't, you don't. If the very worst happens you'll get re-incarnated anyway. Honey Badger for me.

Schools, colleges, universities and childcare facilities closed. Indoor gatherings of more than 100 and outdoor activities of more than 500 banned in Ireland for two weeks.

I can see the logic of banning large outdoor events not because you might get infected but because emergency services must provide staff who have better things to do.

Just a layman but I would have thought that viruses evolve and that stronger strains can emerge. I don't think we can treat it as a usual flu.....its death rate is 6.6 in Italy and over 4 percent in the US. The common flu is under one percent in the west.

The reality with all flus is that this is going to affect the older more than the fit and healthy....also interestingly children have a very low death rate from this.....strange almost as their immune systems are weaker than adults and even the elderly.

Thankfully the health secretary confirmed that once you recover from this you do have significant resistance to reinfection.

If this s***e goes down and services drop to a crawl....if you have prepared prior try to help out any local isolated oldies without family that you know....because it could get rough for them.

That 'big society' crap.

Right so here goes..

Supermarkets shut during the week & only open at weekends for essentials
All international flights cancelled
Border patrol already turning people away at the borders
The border between the Czech Republic & Slovakia closed.
All schools closed
Ski resort closed
Aquapark closed
Mandatory Quarantine for residents who have been outside the country.
All Social & Cultural facilities closed
Also hearing all restaurants are now closed too.

I have literally just kissed goodbye to any takings for a while.
Hopefully the government has some provisions for businesses here due to the actions they have taken.

Just went to the local Coop and bought more supplies (25 beers for €5)
