If you think our measures are draconian just be thankful you don’t live in Hungary.

Yeah, all those Islamic terrorist attacks....I feel for them.

Dan's pointing at Hungary yet our own parliament is about to pass emergency measures that are almost as extensive and unprecedented.

This is a terrible situation but I had to smirk when we had Labour actually arguing for civil liberties in the commons.....blimey.

Most likely brits wanting to come home. They should be, but no doubt won’t be tested. I wouldn’t want to be that family stranded in India.

China cases rising again from the trough on the graph as Chinese nationals fly home from Britain and other places without being tested at departure.

Because all it takes is one infected person on that plane. Cooped up for 8 hours in close-proximity to others, breathing the same air, and hey presto,...the whole flight is infected. But show no symptoms as they are tested on arrival

56 dead in Japan.

Media very quiet on any alternative narrative to the government.

Feels just a little Police state at the moment.....All on a virus that is killing 21 people per million.

I drove past Sussex car parks on the woodland fringes yesterday afternoon. Police cars were in the car parks, with police telling walkers and dog-walkers to 'fkuc off home', and exercise at/close to home.

Why people have to get in their cars to do exercise ,...with other people , is beyond me.

Went to Brighton yesterday, and had mixed experiences. Some people keeping a wide berth whilst walking on the pavements, other c-units walking 2 or 3 abreast, making distancing impossible.

Why anyone would go to Cornwall is beyond me. Remember the time difference, and turn your clocks back 200 years. They have village shops which still have half-day closing on Wednesdays.

Population of UK- 66m
Number of people at 21 per million to die- 1,386
Current deaths- 1,415

This virus is going to significantly more people than you are saying. Whether or not the measures are right or not will be judged once were out the other side. But for now, we need to do as we’re told to get this over with ASAP.

You have to have an alternative solution for them staying on the other side of the world. Not just them. Lots of them.

Not only will it kill more than 21 per million because of virus growth and spread...

Japan have had it all under control. We aren’t anything like Japan. Neither is America, Italy or Spain. You’ve said for so long how and why we should be, and how far from that we are, but you want us to instantly be like Japan within weeks.

Some of the things you’d like us to implement before this virus sounded like sensible proposals. But before this I wouldn’t like us to be as cleanly clinical like Japan or many of their living habits. I much prefer Western European and Mediterranean (and I suppose some of our disobedience makes us who we are, give us our sense of humour and character). A lot of that culture is in hold for now and will no doubt change slightly for a short amount of time, unless they’ve been close to death or the virus a lot lot more than it looks like we’re going to let it.

If you watch the thousands of hospital beds about to be full without being able to see virtually anyone else and the usual admissions that could’ve resulted in death without this not to mention the lack of ventilators that would’ve increased the deaths and possibly had us in a Spanish situation of deciding who died without treatment then we’ll see why it’s all necessary. Hopefully we’ll all get our return to normality for most people before the summer solstice.

The front pages of police action in one sense are probably unnecessary, and you could say sending out the wrong message. But in another way, and you’ve said yourself the isolation will never work so why bother, it’s more warning to practice the advice given or you’ve had a wasted journey or been collared by the law. I can’t see why people who can’t just stay at home or in their local area and not go to national parks etc are worth a debate anyway.

Jack Grealish in club video to isolate.
Days later photoed with car at a car accident in Solihull in Brum.
Admits he had a phone call from a friend so was on his way.

Some won’t get it and will continue to think why should they.

Gets a warning and 2 week fine of £150,000.

I disagree as far too many people are just plain stupid and the message needs to be drummed home. It isn't enough for the news to be full of coronavirus stories as too many people don't watch the news.

I'm sure that almost everyone on this forum has a first hand account of people being stupid like the couple in Sainsbury yesterday who were picking up and handling unwrapped broccoli before putting it back again

21 per million is approximate.....22 per million give you 1452 and hence 21 is more accurate.

I never gave you an end figure, the 21 per million is the now figure.

I disagree with you on these as best measures. People will lose their homes and jobs here and lives will also be lost.

There were other approaches and the government even started out with them.
