A Gatwick update for Willo. Today there will be a Minsk, Barcelona and the daily Dublin. Not quite sure why really!

Probably just to keep your wife busy

Haha, possibly although they don’t even see any passengers from the Dublin flight! Still managed to get a passenger off the Minsk flight who claimed to be coming to London for sightseeing! I suppose no sights would be busy!!

Oh, dear. He’s like Beetejuice and his name was said too often. He’ll have to go some to get more money in than Colonel Tom Moore who also has the download No. 1.

I heartily agree

That would leave the problem of being unable to critique aspects of the response. When mistakes, wilful or otherwise, are made we must surely debate them.

Apologies to Captain Moore for inadvertently promoting him. And It should have read Beetlejuice. An inability to mono-task is a curse.

Not at all. Every aspect of the Government's responses to this crisis should be discussed but without trying to score political points.

There are a lot of people who are wise with the benefit of hindsight and lots who criticize aspects of the Government's actions without offering a credible alternative.

One example of what I mean is Sir Keir Starmer's complaint that the Government should publish their exit strategy which I feel should be responded to with the comment "Well how do you suggest we should do it"

At what point do we start questioning decisions taken though? This isn’t going away any time soon. There is mounting evidence that a lot of poor decisions were taken very early on that has put us where we are now.

There’s a smack of ‘now’s not the time to talk about gun control’ feel to this, and then it just moves on straight away without anyone actually talking about it.

This Times article is pretty damning about decisions made in the early days.

What good does this do other than trying to discredit the government which ultimately is all you are interested in Dan.

What’s done is done, so we can’t now change anything.

The government have been led by science throughout this. It’s easy in hindsight to say what we should or should not have fine however this does not help anybody.

Feel free to have your inquest once the hospitals are not full of people dying but right now we, society need to concentrate our efforts in pulling together to beat this.

The government have admitted mistakes. How you count the lives it may have cost is impossible.
Atm we are in week 4 of lockdown. A lockdown a week earlier would have been the only change. PPE issues are global and lots of care homes are private so they cannot have all the profit and no responsibility. Why they never prepared is for them to answer. The government issue the clinical rules not the practical ones. It is impressive that extra hospitals are and have been built in the time scale they have. Imo danh it is too early to point fingers as this would take it down the political route unnecessarily. In four years people can have their choice but for now it has to be a massive joint effort.
