Oh dear. Hopefully it is just individual picnics.

Hopefully mass fines will result.

Hopefully not. If you want a picnic, go and have one. After that, don’t go to your grandparents and stay apart from others who don’t want you near them. No need to invite thousands to your picnic. It won’t get the government doing anything apart from tightening restrictions if numbers rise.

The sentiment expressed in the flyer is more of people trying to make political points than cucumber sandwiches and lashings of ginger beer.

No one turned up at the Leeds mass gathering. Probably the same everywhere. I reckon plod were looking forward to a scrap and have been let right down by these divs.

I don’t think a vaccine should be thought of as a panacea. Flu vaccines are nowhere near 100% effective so there’s no expectation this would be either which probably makes some form of social distancing likely for some time.

I don't think many many are thinking of it as a panacea, although there are clearly some pretty dim people around who even after all of this still don't seem to understand the basics.

I am no expert but like most have studied epidemiology more in the last weeks than in the rest of my life. If my understanding is correct although the flu vaccine is not 100% effective it is sufficiently so to control it's spread and thus protect most of us. So a vaccine, and effective antivirals which aid the treatment of those who are infected, ought to allow the resumption of a new kind of normal.

As that CNN article I referenced suggested we are likely to see that new normal be significantly different to the old one. It will though allow the economy to recover and perhaps even flourish better. Some businesses sectors will be impacted harder than others whilst others will benefit. We are seeing that already with the growth of super-efficient online shopping. I ordered quite a big item online from a supplier in Yorkshire at 1 pm on Weds, which was scheduled for delivery by the end of the month. It was delivered at noon on Thursday.

Life is going to change but it can still be good.

I agree but the flu vaccine has been worked on for nearly a century and for some strains is pretty ineffective. What I mean is that talk of things depending on a vaccine being available for this disease is at best optimistic and that’s if one is found at all.

Probably made patients not care quite as much anyway.

I think a drug to treat it is more likely and probably more effective. Maybe everyone has a box in their cupboard due to the contagious nature of C19 and not going to the doctors or chemist. It could be included with a rest kit. Blimey the more you think about this the worse it seems.
