He did nothing wrong, hmm, a relative statement

He did exactly what he and the Government had told everyone else not to do.

When he was caught out (he did not declare this upfront) he then did what he does. He span the facts and used get-out clauses in the Government guidelines in a way for which their design was not intended.

He:

1) Left home when his wife had suspected COVID
2) Visited a second home
3) Put pressure on a hospital not in his local area
4) Placed his elderly family at risk
5) Was supposed to be desperately ill, yet collected his son from hospital on roughly the fourth day of his illness, with the huge risk of transmission that would represent
6) Despite his wife saying he was pole-axed for 10 days, was then seen in the garden with his son on the 7th day. Someone lied
7) Drove whilst apparently unfit to drive
8 ) Visited a beauty spot whilst still in the 14 day quarantine period for his son, despite specific instructions not to do so. For this many many people were fined by the Police

So, apart from those points almost all of which have been the subject of an instruction apparently written either by or with him, why would anyone be annoyed?

I should’ve waited for the circumstances to come to light. The people behind this went further making up lies that didn’t happen.

When are the labour MP’s being sacked for driving hundreds of miles for birthdays or to deliver food that supermarkets or local hubs deliver?

If true, may I point out that it was not they who were responsible for the policies and communicating them so that people would obey. So, if true, their punishment should be less extreme.

And when the police find no further action required as he did nothing wrong wissie and danh amongst some will not mention it any more as it will then be assigned to history. And the moon is cheese and we will win the league next year.

Yeah, that's about it in a nutshell! lol

Like I've said elsewhere, if he broke the rules it's a £60 fine, and really not a sackable offence.

So 690(ish) people think this...excellent that's it then...case closed! PMSL

At least with Brexit they had the decency to claim just over 50% of a far greater cohort; rather than 1100 odd people!

Even in his own statement, if you believe it, he admitted he broke the rules, or at least the rules that the overwhelming majority of the country had been trying to follow as closely as possible for a couple of months. This is why people are angry.

I listened to his statement. Perhaps I didn't listen closely enough. Where did he say he broke the rules? I've been generally avoiding the media hysteria, but if you have an excerpt from the transcript, would be interested to see it.

The stock market is picking up an awful lot of late. A combination of stimulus and reopening no doubt. I can't see us going back into lockdown whatever happens with the numbers from here on out.

In the words of Wissie, you are missing the point. There were blatant lies posted by some media outlets regarding a second trip to Durham, where is the apology?

It wasn’t HIS second home, belongs to his father
Did he put his elderly relatives at risk? As he was staying in a property separate from theirs, that is debatable
He had been advised by medical experts that he would be able to drive if he so wished
I believe the trip to Barnard Castle was after the 14 days ( I may be incorrect)
Who spotted him in the garden? Doesn’t the family have a large estate? ( which is a bone of contention for many labour mps and supporters I have heard interviewed). Whether he was in the right or in the wrong, his family’s wealth has nothing to do with it.
In the Scottish Parliament today, Scottish mp stated a rich and powerful person. Why mention wealth or is that a lefty thing?

No, more than that: where is the admission of guilt? I'm waiting for DanH to provide the quote.

Yeh, it's a lefty thing and should be shared out equally so we are all equal. Equally poor. socialism is so wonderful.
