You’re comparing a one in however many thousands of a chance with one in a handful.

That's hypothetics though. It just answers how serious the poster thinks covid itself is. The chance isnt in 1000s though it's a lot lower, even getting very sick is less than that I beleive.

The gradual erosion of rights and liberties. So subtle, some won’t even notice. To what end. Well you haven’t seen big business suffering like you have small business. The rich are just getting richer and will continue to.

Don’t worry though the big businesses will offer to buy out or force buyouts of small businesses at ridiculously low prices. Wait and see what happens. Very happy to be proved wrong but I can see it happening.

No, not really. A handful of beans and one in a thousand chance isn’t the same, and why some take their chances.

Depends on how you define sick. Knackered for a week isn’t really very sick, and that’s what many have had.

I don’t doubt it’s not only older overweight people in trouble in hospital but whenever I have a peak on national news these days, it’s always older overweight people in ICU.

The fear and consequently compliance in spring 2020 was much higher because of the unknown.

Build the wall. Bothered on one side with all the protections as now, not bothered on the other side with all freedoms desired. Wonder who would sneak a look, and wish they were on the other side first.

The lockdown side. No doubt about it.

Therein lies the issue though,

I’ve had Covid, I lost the person I was most worried about catching Covid.

I also work with hundreds of small businesses and see the damage on them and understand the economic reality.

I’d be a prime candidate for the non lockdown side, but then it isn’t myself I’ve now got to worry about.

It’s about being a citizen and not about being the public. I know my taxes are going up being a limited company director and I’ve been shafted in terms of support. I make an average living - But you know what it’s about seeing the situation from others point of view and the second you value one life above another it’s a different animal.

Personally I’d use this as a chance to reset society - the benefits system - everything. I’ve always believed the NHS should be emergency only and there to give the basic necessities. IVF, Gender Assignment etc are not basic rights - but this is exactly the situation the NHS is there for - to protect the nation in a national emergency. The public sector is a bloated animal no doubt, but our genuine front line staff deserve respect.

Initially maybe, but after their hospitals and fridges are full it could be the other way around.

Are you fecking serious, or have you got friends in cabinet? The suffering during and the fallout after will be shocking.

Haha

Not in cabinet but around it, although not entirely relevant to my opinion in this scenario. Being realistic that’s how I see this playing out, for multiple reasons

If anyone thinks this current winter is ‘it’ then I’d love to hear how they’ve come to that conclusion. I can’t see how you’d think we just need to get past this winter and it all miraculously disappears forever

BTW I missed May - Nov, can see things opening up almost fully for at least a few months in summer. But I’d expect some level of gathering limit and distancing to apply. eg 1m+

Also I’m fed up with all this whining about congestion and difficultly travelling abroad etc. Unless you’re doing so for legitimate work reasons (not influencer fluff) or returning somewhere long term for family reasons there is literally no reason why you should be flying or going abroad. It’s like jumping onto hot coals and complaining when your feet get burnt.

Latest idea from the government is to pay £500 to ensure infected people self isolate.

I simply do not understand why this would work. If someone who knows they have the virus is stupid enough not to self isolate why would paying them make a difference.

The real issue is lack of enforcement that is the problem to solve. The idiots will take the money and still go out.
