I just had the first jab - Moderna. So you can see how Ireland is doing. Had a few side effects but nothing serious so far. My main reason is to travel without hassle. For instance, to a couple of Palace games next season.

Interesting, so far I have helped out with the other two but I have not heard of anyone having the Moderna jab although I know the Scots got it.

I wonder why it's not being used as much.

I hope that those who were cautious at the start are not now boxed into a corner where they feel they can't have the jab because of comments they made previously.

My friend who is a yoga teacher was very anti vax even though she caught COVID bad. She is now suspiciously quiet on the topic so none of us have asked her as we don't want to embarrass her.

Just get it done folks.

Maybe your yoga teacher friend is simply waiting until these jabs get their official safety certification? Expected in January 2023.
Just a thought.
Why is it so important to you that she gets it done?
You've made your choice why are you so keen for her to hurry up and make hers?
You say she's anti-fax but if she's decided to do a bit of research into something before she puts it into her bloodstream, then she's going to be further informed than just accepting what our trusted leaders are telling her.
Maybe she's suspiciously quiet because she's heard your stuck record enough times already. She can turn on the telly anytime she wants to hear that again.

I heard from a pharmacist out here, that Moderna is slightly more powerful per dose and costs €3 more per shot than its equivalent Pfizer.

Brave people leaving it to others.

Why should others get vaccinated just to save the skins of you and your loved ones because you are scared of tiny risks. The more people that aren't vaccinated the more dangerous life becomes as the variants keep on coming.

Get vaccinated, don't be a vector for the disease and thereby kill others and don't be a reservoir for the disease leading to a risk of a nastier variant.

Grow a pair.

Grow a pair.

You are a hyperbolic scaremonger.

As for 'grow a pair', you're the guy who screamed like a little girl anytime anyone suggested anything physical on the site and now you want to talk about nerve?

Yeah yeah.

Yeah yeah.

I have said before

It takes feck all nerve for you to offer out someone roughly half your weight and it's pretty pathetic.

For some, it takes nerve to get vaccinated. I thought twice but then piled in as quickly as I could in the first wave.

Bravery comes in many forms.

I never offered out the guy that you continually imply I did offer out. So your inaccuracy is what's pathetic there. I've said that before but you must be hard of reading.

Bravery mostly comes in its traditional form.

Vaccination isn't about 'bravery', that's just language manipulation.

Blame the Chinese.

Nothing to do with me, take your guilt trips to someone silly enough to believe them.

I hate to butt in but I have seen people shaking with fear because they don't like needles and yet they turned up. Doing something you are scared of is a form of bravery.

I got vaccinated first and foremost to protect other people, rather than myself so I thought I'd highlight that perspective. Admittedly it could still be viewed as selfish, because primarily it was to protect older people that I actually know and would hate to think I'd made ill. I figured that me protecting myself and them doing the same was the best possible combination possible, so went with that.

It pays to consider that throughout both waves, there haven't actually been large periods of time where people have been able to socialise freely at the height of an outbreak. Assuming that hospitalisations are kept low, but case numbers are high, and we 'don't' lockdown this time, this will be the prime period of time where unvaccinated people get infected. For the young, they may well be fine. For the ill and elderly though, they may come to realise that they're a late in the day casualty of something they could've easily avoided.
