I visualize that a Chinese journalist is at Q&A session with Chinese president and the journalist is accusing him and his administration not doing anything between mid-Dec & mid Jan and letting virus to spread by allowing millions of Chinese to travel around the world.

Surrealistic.

Indeed. Now try to imagine the journalist filing the copy and it getting printed in the newspaper and all of China reading it.

You forgot to add, thirdly, a very wealthy father!

The geographic origin of the 'Spanish flu' remains uncertain.

Yes it does matter.

Trump attacking the WHO and scapegoating China for solely political reasons at a time when everyone should be pulling together sends out the wrong messages. Messages that are being received by at least some, as can be witnessed here.

I completely agree that with such a crisis we ought not even be discussing it. That's the point. Everyone ought to ignore Trump. The media should stop broadcasting his press conferences, or pulling the plug whenever he starts campaigning during them. State governors should just tell him what his real position is. He thinks he is a tyrannical dictator and needs to be shown he isn't.

Did you read that today he is arranging that the cheques being sent to support US businesses are going to have his name on them, as if they are a gift from him. Apparently this will cost both money and time to arrange. Now why do you think he is doing that in an election year?

Does that matter? Yes it does because we need the US President leading the western world's response to this crisis and not spending all his time playing politics with it.

Scapegoating china. Hes had china in his sights from day one. Dog for dinner anyone. They eat live animals and the virus started there. The WHO did not try to find out what was going on and claimed it couldn't be transmitted person to person. Then it was not that contagious when they found out it could be. Then china decided that they had 83000 cases with 3000 dead and 78000 recovered. Someone somewhere is speaking with a forked tongue when in every other country the rates of death are higher and recovery lower. I read that in certain areas where satellites monitor air quality and compounds with methods enabling this that sulphur or some chemical levels were higher and this is created when organic matter is burnt. My money would be on bodies. Calling them out is what trump is doing, silence is golden and not many countries defending china atm so what does that tell you. That they are scared of trump or agree with him from around the corner. See none hear none speak none.

Good Summary of Trump vs the WHO.

Even though Trump is a bully and deflecting to cover up his mistakes it doesn't mean he is wrong about the WHO and it's leader.

The problem I have with the UN is that the "nasty" nations have seized control of the key UN agencies.

As I agave said in a previous post I think Trump’s timing is wrong but do agree that the WHO needs calling out. I would not believe any of the figures coming from the Chinese government.
Regarding the live animal markets, they have reopened in Wuhan and it seems this is where the virus started. However they are not unique to China, they are still open in Thailand and Indonesia.
Google the PETA website for full description of them

That Trump has been scapegoating China from day one of his presidency is true. He wasn't though critical of their handling of the C19 crisis until he needed to deflect blame from himself. Hence the "Chinese Virus" switch in the way it was referred to. As I have previously pointed out he was supporting the Chinese response in February via Twitter:- "China has been working very hard to contain the Coronavirus. The United States greatly appreciates their efforts and transparency. It will all work out well. In particular, on behalf of the American People, I want to thank President Xi!"

How the virus started remains unproven. It is assumed it was via their live markets but much fuller investigations are needed and once done the lessons need to be learned.

The WHO acted, as everyone else has to, on the best information available at the time they made their decisions. Using hindsight can make everyone an expert but using it politically, as Trump is doing, for purely selfish reasons, is irresponsible.

Speculating on whether China did this, or that, gets us no-where at all. There is a time to find that out and then via good argument, gentle persuasion and effective diplomacy find ways to effect changes that improve behaviour and reduce the future risks. That time isn't now. Now is the time to put such matters aside and concentrate on co-operation to overcome the immediate problems.

That countries aren't publicly defending China just means they are trying not to give any oxygen to the story. I suspect though that they are mostly giving quiet diplomatic support, as it seems we have.
