During the 6 Nations I had the following exchange.
Landlord: When are you going to start wearing a Scotland shirt?
Me: When you start wearing an England one.
Man at bar: I wouldn’t wipe ma erse on an England shirt.
Me: Good. We don’t want you to.
Man at bar: er.....

Yes I think you are! So you are saying if people want to travel, let them, providing they comply with the regulations of that country:

1 What about airport staff, air crew, border force staff who have to be in close contact with them? Or is it ok to put them and their families at risk?

2 Have you ever seen how p***ed up Brits behave abroad at the best of times?

Rather than repeat it might I suggest you read my post at 8.46.

Providing the staff involved are not showing symptoms, follow the guidance and maintain social distancing then they would be no more at risk than anyone else working. The economy cannot just shut down. This needs to be managed and that doesn't mean we must all retreat into our caves and wait until we starve.

I am not the least bit protective of the Guardian.

I do though enjoy it when someone takes the p*ss out of the Mail, which I regard as a scurrilous right wing rag these days.

The Guardian, by comparison, is a pillar of responsible journalism, albeit published from a different perspective to the views of most here.

'As long as' people do this....'As long as'....people do that.

Errr...hello real world....wake up.

People don't do A and then B.....The number of human interactions that happen everyday are exponentially increased the more humans are present.....as compared to zero when a human isn't there to interact with.

They certainly have lots of pillocks of journalism working there.

As usual whenever we have a crisis of any kind the biggest earners will be the old bill and other public services (that’s not meant as a criticism by the way)

Saw on the news earlier they were reporting that the Met have cancelled all rest days and annual leave for its officers... They’ve denied it... But they have!

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Mr Wise Guy, you are talking absolute b***ocks, as usual, can you please explain how many Border Force Officers will have arms that are 2 metres long ( the social distance you speak of)? They have to be handed passports and speak to passengers. If that doesn’t make them at risk I do not know what does.
Please don’t be patronising “ as long as they follow guidelines” they are not stupid

I really don't think the Coronavirus spread around the world has been caused by immigration. It has been spread by regular people going about their regular business, holidaying, traveling, and business meetings as examples. If it was as simple as imigration the situation would be no where near ad bad as it is now.
Take America for example, with Trump at the helm you couldn't ask for a tougher stance on imigration and that hasn't made any difference at all.
Countries are closing their borders to everything full stop.

Yes you are.

Immigration brings more people into the country....more people equals more chance of incoming infections....spreaders and catchers.

It's not that difficult.

Countries haven't been closing their borders out of boredom.....They are only responsible for their own nationals.

Agree. I’m against an open door policy but northern Italy hardly has an immigration issue.

Obviously the initial spread from one country to the next was caused by the crossing of borders by people....whether immigrants or not.

It's certainly true that its spread isn't only caused by immigration....but that wasn't said was it.

Immigration worsens the situation for the simple reasons stated and that's partly why borders are being shut around the world.

Regardless shutting borders is only one part of fighting this.

As for the US situation....the border action is so recent that I'm surprised you've come to such a conclusion and now that the virus has taken root the case number is obviously going to shoot up.

How fast and how long depends upon what the strategy is.....Well, to an extent....because percentages of people will do what people do....Unless you're literally suppressing them, which they don't have the infrastructure to do....even if they wanted to.
