Cummings is good at his job, unlike many in the media.
He broke no laws and all of this is a witch hunt driven by hatred.

The public aren’t angry because of the media, they are angry because of what he did.

They are angry because they cannot go to the pub, restaurants and other social events. Not because some advisor went to one of his parents properties.

Right. Multiple concerns, one of which was only an allegation and appears false. The rest, largely, he admits. The big stuff like taking a child apparently exposed to the virus to a hospital 260 miles away. Talk about clutching at straws.

Only an allegation but was headline news! I don’t think he travelled 260 miles to take the child to a hospital. His wife accompanied the child to the hospital in an ambulance ( I believe) whilst they were there

Ha ha that is the lamest excuse I've read. Adults all acting like spoilt brats. What an absolute insult to the dead and sick. So if they get sick and their families get sick its Cummins fault is it?
"Its my ball and I'm taking it home". Pathetic.

I am not excusing anyone.

I am just pointing out that using "whataboutery" is as irrelevant in this as it is in any situation.

The person in the dock is Johnson for failing to sack Cummings.

The fact that a group of journalists demonstrated how people are willing to ignore the rules when it suits them is simply evidence of how important it is to ensure that those who make the rules, follow the rules.

Nothing to do with getting a bonus for the best picture!

Sorry regardless of what Cummings did or didn't do adults are supposed to exercise personal responsibility otherwise we have anarchy.

No it's NOT OK and yes we all have to exercise personal responsibility.

Neither of which is the point at issue.

If science is to be followed and science (behavioural) says that this is a wrong example that will lead to increased deaths unless dealt with, then it must be dealt with.

Anything else is an excuse.

What you fail to understand is that I "saw it first hand" too!

In my time in business I saw a lot of senior management in action both in the private and public sectors, including the civil service. They have a lot in common as the jobs have many similarities.

You seem to think that just because your own experiences have left you with such a negative viewpoint that it's the only viewpoint and must therefore be correct.

It isn't. It's just your own.

So as usual your view point must be correct. Don’t forget that is just your own.

The strategy has moved on from ‘stay home (petrified), save lives’ anyway. And as for ‘save the NHS’ to opening up business and society, I’ve seen a few new nurse dancing videos this week in empty wards while cardiac admissions are down 50%, among others. I said at the start this story was leaked at the wrong time and too late when they should’ve done it during strict lockdown and it looks like that’s right in terms of maximum damage and it damaging government messaging.

‘People will die as a consequence’ is a big exaggeration. Everyone knows who’s at risk. If you don’t then what have you been doing for 2 months?

I am not a behavioural scientist and nor, I suspect are you.

If the government's stance is that their position has been, and is, that the strategy is to "follow the science" and they don't, then that strategy is a bust.

It really doesn't matter if you, I or anyone else, believes it an exaggeration. It's what the science has said.

The reporters are not responsible for writing the rules.

They are required to follow them, just as we all are.

Having been shown by someone who is part of the group who writes the rules that it's OK to ignore them those reporters are prime evidence of what setting a bad example can do.

That last paragraph is absolute bollox
