The only good thing during this is crisis is when you go out (and be careful to not get close to people, and ignorant or stupid, dirty b******s a lot of people are) is that everywhere is pretty quiet (apart from large supermarkets in the mornings) and free from the similar irritating people around today. Well they were around a week ago. Less traffic too. Shame the economy is going down the pan and the consequences for individuals.

Rudi, are the Caterham pubs still open? My local club in Woldingham has closed, “until further notice”, which is irritating to say the least. I have been known to visit one or two of the Caterham establishments on occasion, for a little refreshment.

Yep, it's going to be an interesting juxtaposition within society between those who normally 'go along to get along', put their heads down and get on with it and those in the politically correct and political classes....the 'inclusivity Nazis' so to speak.

I'm an 'inclusivity Nazi' until mid April I think.....We can't restrict the economy like it doesn't matter.

Personally I'm confident that the warmer weather in May will knock this down as humidity seems to have that affect.....If it does I think the restrictions will ease considerably......That said, it's going to remain very dicey for the sickly vulnerable grey wizards among us....Get bookish and don't let your grandchildren climb over you till you've had that vaccine.

Once mid September turns up and it gets cold and wet.....We have six months of fun still without a vaccine.....though I have little doubt that they will be mass producing one by next summer.....Again, just my personal view.

There are lots of conflicting opinions over the virus.
This is because there is too much data, and not enough experience/knowledge about how to process the information quickly into a meaningful interpretation.

You have , essentially, 3 sources of data. The newspapers, the politicians and the scientists. And they manipulate the data to produce opinions which suit their own ends

Manipulate the data.
For what f***ing gain.
More votes next time?
Sad

Driving past I think so. Warlingham pubs are open.

That's interesting....is it wet this time of year there?

With lower standard of living countries there will be a lot of inter generational abodes.

If the weather doesn't make a difference it makes things pretty bad......I guess we might as well lock the oldies away and just get on with it.

Perhaps only a matter of time before such establishments are instructed to close.

The 'Advice' handed out by the Government is already having an affect on reducing social interaction in one of my 'Locals' with booking for rooms and meals down and staff ordered not to cover their rostered shifts as planned.Perhaps this pattern is replicated by other such establishments in the area.

My son worked at Thorpe Park last year, was offered another contract this year (minimum wage) has just returned from days training to receive an email stating, we are changing your contract to zero hours, if you don’t agree then no longer a job. Ffs what hope have youngsters got? He has degree in musical theatre so no chance of anything in that field. Any suggestions?

Let do that! I appreciate that you obviously know more than I do about the workings of Border Force and what can and cant be done, as I only worked for them for over 30 years but let me pick at your reply:

Then you know even better than myself, who is a mere user of the service, that what I wrote is all true. We will examine why below.

I refer to Teddy Eagles post of yesterday and indeed yours of this morning....no-one knows fully how this can be transmitted, it is possible for it to be transmitted on documents (ie passports) some places, I believe including Kew Gardens, are considering not accepting cash.

Indeed. No-one knows, but we have all been given guidance and until it changes that all includes those who work in our Border Force.

What are these special facilities? If you are talking about the private interview rooms, let me explain in simple terms why this is not practical: This would be classed as detention, to detain someone you have to issue legal documentation, take their fingerprints (mmm! in the present climate) and take their photograph. This is a LEGAL requirement, if not done the Department can (and have) been sued for unlawful detention.

There are many things like this at the moment where what is "normal", and even currently legal, is having to be compromised by circumstances[. If it needs to be done a way will be found to make it done.

Where are these places with screens and windows? I have never seen them. Officers have been asking for these for years but, thanks to your looney Liberals friends, they have been resisted as they did not want interviewees to feel intimidated, as they do not exist now, you cannot just magic them out of thin air.

Magic wands are not needed. Just some ingenuity and determination is all that is required. Just as everyone else is having to find workarounds. This is a crisis. We need people who solve problems and not people who find them.

We could implement health checks BUT WE ARE NOT and my point was that Border Force Officers are at risk. if this were to be the case, where do you suggest the people be taken? and how?

Border Force Officers are no more at risk than countless others doing frontline jobs. Provided that sensible precautions are taken there is no reason at all why that will change.Where would the people be taken? See my answer above.

Finally I wonder what your definition of rocket science is? The reason being I want to let my daughter (who is a Senior Spacecraft Engineer) know that there is a sage living in a Cornish bubble who may well know more about her job than she does.

You ought to know as well as I do that it wasn't meant literally. I suggest you ask your daughter to explain the meaning to you as real "rocket scientists" are really clever, hence the remark.

That sucks.

Well golden oldie care is only going to increase.

As he's interested in creative stuff I think video streaming is going to kick off far more as an entertainment form.

I'm hearing a buzz around the malaria drug chloroquine as being effective.

I have no idea as to whether that's true or not.
