Don't you believe in civil liberties then?

Of course I do. I’m just not enough of a selfish prick to have a problem with wearing a mask and staying in a bit more if it helps save a few lives.

I have no objection to wearing a mask when out and about, always keep a safe distance wherever possible but will not be rushing to have a vaccine. I will have no objection to others taking my place in the queue, just think the whole thing has been rushed through and I would prefer to wait and see

If the scientists and regulators say it’s safe I’ll trust them. You keep on listening to whatever crank it is you follow on twitter or YouTube instead.

Did you ever research how long the side effects of new drugs take to show up? They said DDT and Thalidomide was safe, but years later discovered they were wrong. I realise you are fairly young, so probably have never seen anybody suffering the effect of Thalidomide. I was in a school class with two victims of the drug. Neither of them seemed to be bothered by it at the time, but we were kids. I imagine their lives were not as blessed as yours.

Systematically dragged down by the lawmakers

That's fine, good luck to you but why such a horrible tone?
Are you as aggressive towards vegans, religious diets, or Jehovah witnesses that won't allow blood transfusions, what about abortion?
You seem very intolerant of people who don't conform with your way of thinking.
I don't like to pre judge but you come across as a right nasty piece of work.

Yes, one in my class too, it was terrible that drug was allowed to be used and it must have caused an unbelievable amount of misery for those unfortunate enough to be born with the disabilities it caused.

I realise that the understanding of medicine has moved on but will they truly know what effect this vaccine may have now or in the future given the timescale they have rushed it through in.

It's interesting how scientists are still working out the long term affects of covid 19 but already have a vacine.
If they don't fully understands the disease yet why would people want it injected in them in the form of anti boddies. Ide rather wait till more is known.
Some people are stating they have symptoms months after!!! [Link]

Above and beyond all else, it's of course POSITIVE that this vaccine appears to be so effective. It may well save millions of lives. If the safety results are equally positive and it's offered first and foremost to those at serious risk of covid anyway, then that would seem like a sensible way to move forward.

I fear that some have found themselves into such a nay saying space that they're almost annoyed at the apparent success at the vaccine. Of course if it had been ineffective then the approach would've been how people were fools for holding out hope for an effective vaccine to begin with. Sitting on the sidelines sniping at both efforts of individuals and the scientific community to make a meaningful difference to the trajectory of a pandemic.

I fully understand the 'wait and see' attitude, and would never support any effort to twist anyones arm to have a vaccine, but people should mentally be able to both hold concerns but also see that potentially this is a development that it to be applauded.
