Wow, you really are looking at the long term. Although I am not entirely sure I trust your predictions

I'm still waiting for the second wave graph. The one which instigated the lockdown to be repeated. All I see is increases in positive tests, and increases in hospital admissions. Average death rates are normal as far as I can find.

And even if all these vaccines prove to be safe, it will take at least two years to get the already terrified public to believe they can carry on as normal.

Expect more of the same. For years to come.

What did you mean then?! Be more specific and explain what you wanted your second wave graph to show!

You alluded to increased positive tests and increased hospital admissions so if you weren’t referring to the increased COVID deaths then what were you referring to?!

Don’t trust me, trust the ONS data.

What, for 2029?

Blimey, those civil servants are whizzes with stats.

Well, look at the graph you posted. The red line on the left (march-June) is a wave. Where is the second wave that justifies this second lockdown.

It's not that hard to see the difference. Is it?

I said "second wave"!

That isn't a graph showing why we needed a lockdown. It shows a trend that happened after lockdown. The average deaths are similar to, well, average. You do realise that death rates increase every autumn/winter? And you do realise that average means, er, average? If you look at the year on year deaths, they vary to a staggering degree. So the 5 year average is a tad misleading.

I don’t know what you are looking at but it clearly shows the sharp trend in increasing COVID deaths before the second lockdown was introduced (05/11).

The ‘average deaths’ are 10% above Average and with deaths ‘not involving COVID’ down (below the five year average), this further illustrates that increased COVID deaths are making up both the shortfall and the 10% increase. This concept has already been clearly explained by some members previously.

Are you for real? What shaped curve do you expect to see when COVID deaths are still rising sharply?!

Oh I didn’t realise I typed 9 on my phone instead of 0. Shows you didn’t look at the graph then and dismissed it instead.

No it doesn’t. Blimey, talk about spinning.

It shows I have greater attention to detail than you on this occasion and slightly more in the way of a sense of humour.

Disproportionate with regards the economic destruction and its consequences.

I'm no lockdown proponent, but in the first wave the vast majority of them happened during the lockdown not before it happened. Hence Phils comments about there being a second uptick now.

Yep. A very sad state.
‘The public’ won’t be vaccinated until at least the end of 2021 at the earliest. Just watch. Tick tock. Lol. I’m actually past caring now. The other side are getting what they want and they still aren’t proven to be right.
