I've played no part in this thread up to now so apologies if I'm about to retread old ground and congratulations for reaching 700+ pages. Nugent-esque.

However, I'm increasingly being swayed by the view of Mike Yeadon and others who argue that the PCR tests are wildly inaccurate and churning out thousands of false positives per day.

I simply don't see how a disease that is supposedly twice as infectious as seasonal flu, which itself usually takes around 4-5 months to get round the country, has taken twice as long to infect far fewer people. Something just doesn't add up.

It's also striking how few excess deaths there have been since the peak back in April/May when it obviously was rampaging round.

Minimal excess deaths, hospitals actually less full than this time last year, yet apparently we have tens of thousands of cases per day and should be cowering away in our homes. So what gives?

There is mounting evidence that Covid is far less deadly than previously thought, with the latest suggestion being that it kills 0.4% of cases or fewer and I honestly believe that there are far, far fewer cases than we're being told.

I'm in a difficult position as my grandmother, brother and mother in law are all classed as 'vulnerable' owing to medical conditions so, even though I believe all this, I would never put them at risk by acting on it and get short shrift from my wife for even discussing it.

However, for me something isn't right so I'd love someone on here to explain why my views are nonsense and put me at ease that this crappy Christmas with no boozing in the pub is going to be worth it.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I thought flu cases were down because of all the washing hands, 2 metres, facemasks and general shielding the vulnerable?

Great Post Canterbury Eagle.
I am with Yeadon - I don't see him as a conspiracy theorist as many others are.
There is no doubt that this is a dangerous virus but we have now taken leave of our senses in the way that we are running the country - I am a Tory and support Boris by the way.
I haven't checked all of the facts about excess deaths and people in hospital but the likelihood is that numbers in hospital are down due to other stuff not being treated more than anything.
Other than that we now need to get on with life - if we don't then this is likely to happen again and again anytime that China or another Country decides to send out a virus to wreak havoc on the world!

I was just making the point that our attention to washing etc. seems to be working and so does add up.

Apologies, misread it. Too early and to soon after that disaster last night. I agree with you by the way

Haha, so after all these years of flu being the winter killer and spending millions of pounds of nhs money on an annual flu jab, all we had to do was wash our hands and wear a mask and flu disappears.

To all those in Tier2 aren’t you just delighted that the government have elaborated on their instructions for pubs. Substantial meal with knife and fork and must be eating to be drinking otherwise you have to leave.

Draconian in the extreme. They are trying to kill off social interaction. This will undoubtedly cause more problems than it resolves. How many pubs will basically be totally unable to open. Government probably don’t even have to help out these businesses however because they are allowed to be open, just can’t make any money.
