Fair point re: stress levels and I don’t wish to raise levels of anxiety unnecessarily. My worry is if we don’t point out these issues now, once this is over and the dust has settled we go back to doing the same.

There is going to be a serious increase in spending to combat this, and my concern is that once this is all finished they use the crisis as excuse for another 10 years of austerity.

I do echo my original sentiments though regarding the U.K. population acting like idiots stems from weak leadership. You can’t ‘advise’ people not to go to the pubs, you tell them as leader don’t go. They should be running public health videos in every advert break explaining the risks of spreading etc. We have had 5/6 years of dialogue in the media in the U.K. about not listening to experts/politicians so I’m not surprised that the public are still ignoring expert advice. To clarify that’s not a snipe about brexit more Gove’s remarks ‘I think we’ve had enough of experts’ etc.

I've heard that McDonalds are shutting everything from tomorrow night......this sh1t just got real.

Exactly my point the conclusion drawn doesn’t stack up, for the hypothesis to be correct, it should be easily applicable elsewhere. Iran has similar rate of immigration (2.8% vs 3.4% in Japan and Iran respectively), both countries have at their core a unity in their held common conservative cultural practices, yet the levels of infection in Iran are very high. This leads me to believe that it is actually down to the way these countries tackled the virus as opposed to the diversity in make up of population as the video heavily infers.

I just find the video leaps from pointing out the obvious factors that slow the spread such as reduced touching, to making a heavy handed and unevidenced point about diversity. That’s the problem with these kinds of social science videos on YouTube, very little statistical evidence to back up a whole lot of personal feeling.

Could cause anarchy that measure. The people who buy that cannot behave. Irrational and no responsibility. I don’t think the food causes it but it doesn’t help it. I wouldn’t mind the ignorant taking one.

I would not be surprised to see some hair and beauty salons closing as well due to social distancing.The only establishments open will be supermarkets, corner shops,petrol stations and the likes of Tesco Express.

This afternoon I was informed that a cash machine had been taped up and a shop was only accepting cards as the handling of money was deemed to add to the spread of the virus.The 'Lockdown' is in full swing.
