Just as weird is the Lib Demi’s are beginning to look Electable.

You don’t think that they are not currently working on some form of digital proof ready to roll out as soon as they think the public will swallow it?

We are almost at the stage of “show me your papers” to go to the pub. Very scary indeed.

I agree. There’s also the fact that most bar staff tend to be younger people - will they be allowed to work if they haven’t been vaccinated?

My local wouldn't even turn away dirty smelly men who stink to high heaven. I don't see many pubs insisting on this.

Will probably be sh1tty chain eating pubs that jump for it. Drinkers pubs as I called them before I heard ‘wet pubs’, won’t bother. A bit of a mix in between. Depends. The more compliant the area so far, the more they’ll demand your vaccine proof. Pubs will have to be very careful with the choice they make or they’ll go out of business for definite.

What this kind of thing suggests is that come Autumn you will be back to lockdown in some format and that this crap goes on for years.

While rioters get no support from me I find the political compliance and faith from the English pretty indicative of lambs being led to slaughter, if not physically then certainly fiscally.

Also, freedoms that have existed here for hundreds of years just being wiped away with this bovine like acceptance is extremely disheartening.....conservatism has become 'cradle to grave' ideology and state control.

Along with all the other self destructive behaviour from the British I think withdrawing from it all is probably better for my blood pressure.

Providing the vaccine is effective I can't see a scenario where lockdowns persist for years in the UK

Personally, I think the reality is some localised restrictions over the winter period are possible, but no more than that.

As for travel and holidays etc – I'd expect that's where it's more likely to rumble on for longer rather than at a domestic level. So many countries are lagging compared to us that some sort of international hangover is inevitable.

So long as we get into the swing of an annual vaccination / booster programme this will all become diluted down to the level of flu over the next few years, with the messaging swinging away from targeting all people to just the elderly and vulnerable. At that point, maybe 5 years down the line it will become just another winter ailment and the behavioural and social aspects start to dissipate from peoples minds

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

Would kill for a pint in a pub like this right now.

I think I will continue to wear a mask in some circumstances post COVID. I always get colds (monthly), since I started mask wearing I haven't had one so why not.

The psychological and behavioural effects it has on society. Masks do not have a positive effect whatsoever on society apart from some, not complete protection, from illnesses during a period where people are having very little contact anyway. Horrendous to contemplate these things permanently. I definitely won’t be wearing them or going into places that demand them because there will be places that won’t.

I must admit, I'm a bit more cynical about it.

But I much prefer your picture to mine.

Agreed. Maybe it'll be the new approach to social distancing. Don't wash for a week before going out.

As an aside, every time I've gone into a pub early up North (usually on an away day) it's smelt of Dettol

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.
