Went Selhurst first at aged 12 with friends who were football fans and have had the pleasure of introducing many a football fan to ‘our home’ at Selhurst over the 30 years since my first visit.

I'm a Yank who spent a gap year at school in Shropshire in the early '70's, loving every minute of it. I played a bit of football there, and four years of it at University here in the States, badly. Some of my most cherished memories of my magical year included watching MOTD on Saturday nights at school and seeing ManU with George Best play Arsenal while standing on the clock-end terraces. Were I fan of the Gunners, I might capitalize "clock" and "terraces"...

Still, I didn't become a full-time Premier League fan until recently, as US television coverage improved. I chose to follow Palace for several reasons, among them the dazzling name, the beloved color scheme, the proud mascot, and my long-ago association of "Crystal Palace" with the thrilling 10,000m world-record run by the incomparable David Bedford. Watching a few Palace matches, I was smitten with the most loud and loyal fans in the League. How could anyone witnessing the boundless support offered by the Selhurst faithful -- not feel Glad All Over?

Two discoveries which sealed the deal, as we say, were a mesmerizing YouTube skills video of Wilf and the fact that the pre-eminent U.S. match-day television hostess Rebecca Lowe was a Palace fan. And she -- a deity to all U.S. Premier League fans -- she herself, spent a gap year at my school in the U.S.

As much as I believed I was making a conscious decision to follow Palace, in retrospect I realize it was merely my destiny. The path to Palace was in the stars.

*I hasten to add how fervently I wish I had the means to buy the club from my seemingly indifferent compatriots and invest the funds that the Club and its fans deserve.

Born 2 1/2 miles from SP. My sister went to school in what is now the car park. My dad used to take me and his dad - who I never knew - took him before. I’ve supported Palace for around 57 years

After a while I left my dad in the old stand as I wanted to sing in the Holmesdale. And that is what I do today. With my own son. Nowadays I live just slightly closer to the ground.
