I can't say much football played before next season start

How do you think it should end?

I'm in favour of top two promoted and no relegations. Possibly play offs on August for one extra place and then 4 relegated the following season. I know we were relagated like this when they restructured the top division

Liverpool so far ahead would be cruel not to name them champions

Hopefully clubs would give a relative discount to season tickets for the following season and to ticket holders of unplayed games

there is absolutely no good reason for cancelling the current season - when we eventually restart just spread the schedule out or compress it depending on the circumstances and hey presto job done - so what if we have only one season to cover 2019-21 if it has to turn out that way.

Why? It’s just a game. This is only being questioned because of money. It’s very sad. Surely the fairest system for all teams is to scrap the season. There will be winners and losers as a result but at least the vast majority will still be alive. Surely that takes precedence. I can’t see mass gatherings of any sort being allowed much before October so you will already be looking at possibly delaying the start of the following season let alone finishing this one.

The mini leagues could be tailored to fit the amount of time until the leagues are about to restart. For example 10 teams in a league would make 18 games and be drawn from the top four divisions to give the lower leagues some much needed revenue.

Had this idea, but probably needs a bit of work.

This season is frozen until this time next year or slightly earlier then restarted so that the games are roughly being played at the right time of the year.

Then if this goes on through the summer it wouldn't be a problem.
If it was possible to start earlier then a series of friendlies or mini tournaments between premier league and efl teams could be organised to boost lower league clubs incomes.

Sorry, the above was meant to follow this

It is unfortunate manoftaste and in some circumstances it will be seen as unfair but the season has around a quarter of it yet to go and barely any position at ANY level is decided.

If the season remains unfinished it is exactly that and titles, promotions and relegations cannot be awarded because nothing has been decided.

Null and Void with all results expunged is the only outcome, as the lower National Leagues have already discovered. The RFU the same.

In time it will have to follow with the EPL & EFL. They meet again just as the UK cases will be really taking off so it will be very interesting to see what they do.

With the probability of the corona virus returning later in the year, to me it seems to make sense to finish this season. Restart in September. If there are no interruptions it would be finished by say November.

A series of mini leagues perhaps, as someone suggested with teams drawn across all 4 divisions. Top 2 or so from each division go into a cup competition.

I know this won’t bring in quite so much cash.

If we cancel this season we may start another that needs cancelling.

well, we've been moaning about that for 30 years......

It would be amusing. Shef Utd were due to play West Ham last game of the season and would have been licking their lips at the chance of possibly relegating West Ham after the Tevez affair. That left a stink!

Obviously a worst case scenario but how much could we reasonably afford?

Assuming they can't resume this season before July, they could consider combining the two seasons and have three games played between each team up to June 21. This would mean that if team A has already played team B twice, then when football resumes they would only play once more up to June 21. If they had only played once, they would then play twice more.

The difficulty would be which team plays at home for the third game. This could be based on previous results (e.g 2 wins already and you have to play away) or simply a coin toss.

An other thought I had was to reduce the minutes of the game for next season e.g. to 80 mins. This is to allow games to be played more frequently whilst giving the players some rest.
