Insurance companies are a business. They aren't there to make a loss. I had a friend who used to be an insurance Loss-Adjuster and I got first-hand stories of the way they wriggled out of paying-out and the satisfaction it brought to a c-unit like him. Don't automatically think your insurance covers a cancelled flight/holiday. It may be you that ends up taking a big hit. And just to add that airlines and insurance are obviously in cahoots. Airlines giving out updated information at the last minute to deprive those who've booked both compensation and insurance cover. And airlines operate in different ways. BA has been around many decades and has had time and opportunity to expand and then build slush funds. Other newer airlines are still investing in expansion, and that is why they have no cash reserves. Virgin was also trying to gain security through diversification. Hence their new �multi-million cruise ship,....which is now out of service. "The facts have changed", Rishi Sunak

And airlines operate in different ways. BA has been around many decades and has had time and opportunity to expand and then build slush funds.
Other newer airlines are still investing in expansion, and that is why they have no cash reserves.

Virgin was also trying to gain security through diversification. Hence their new �multi-million cruise ship,....which is now out of service.

I'm saying that ER were trying to stop the population flying, travelling etc. They seem to have got their wish, hence they win. Society didn't get the chance to make their own decisions as the curtailment has been forced upon them.

"From 2010-2019, the biggest US airlines spent 96% of their free cash flow on buying back their own shares" according to the site Robinhood Snacks. Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.
