Players' wages

DAK if the players will be getting their full salaries whilst the club is without income? I'd hope that the players would show some sympathy for the club's plight.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |

The players wages are guaranteed as long as the club is solvent even if it goes bust they are preferred creditors and as a last resort the PFA will pay them. I would be more worried at the tea lady and the self employed physio those are the folk that will really suffer. Barnet have just announced they have have put all staff on notice I think they will re-employ some at a lower wage. I expect we will see more of this.

They won’t offer not to be paid. At least all clubs are in the same boat so it should get factored into transfer and contract negotiations in the near future to some degree. Non season ticket receipts are very small so that isn’t going to be a big cost, but then there is sponsorship etc. The one area we’re not relying on as much as other clubs is corporate. The premier league clubs will somehow adjust and cope. Our season ticket prices haven’t been announced yet! Other clubs corporate revenue is huge! If the season finishes in the summer then clubs might make a bit more in the nicer weather, with everyone paying on card. The lower leagues will find it very very difficult.

They may have to put the new Ferrari on hold but that's about it. Far more worried about the club's solvency.

I think in a situation like this would be a good thing for the players (especially the higher paid ones) to voluntarily sacrifice some of their wages to support the match day staff who will be without work cos of this.

Good idea Mr Blackpudding, but anyone giving anything should not be coerced into providing funds by popular opinion. We have around 14 nations represented and players may find their heart for charity is more focused on their "home turf" than their kit man. Whether that is right or not shouldn't really be up for debate and I still agree with your premise. Hopefully the players, at any level of wage, would have the type of relationship with Club colleagues that extends to support and care. I'd like to think our players would be this way inclined. Well with zero earnings and players still being paid I can only see disaster looming for many if not most clubs. The crisis now looks like it could still be with us into 2021. Players wages (see what Man Utd are doing) are beyond crazy. For someone to believe being on £20k a week is hardship just demonstrates their lack of sense of perspective. One thing is for sure there's now way the Government will step in.
